Going to court monday

Im in court on monday. i have spoken to my bank who assures me i will be able to keep my bank account open but with a cashcard only which is fine but apparently i am not allowed any direct debits? How will i pay my household bills? Does everything have to be cash at the post office etc or are you allowed to pay online?
Im am very nervous! Wish it was all over!

Hi-all the very best for Monday. Have you looked at the Co-op cashminder account?
We opened the account prior to going bankrupt, the Co-op has allowed this-and they've said direct debits are allowed(which i've got to sort out)! Also the Co-op lady said to me it's the perfect account for bankrupts as there are no borrowing facilities.
    All the best

Hiya good luck for monday, when I was going BR I asked a relative if I could have my direct debits took out of their account until I got a new account sorted, that worked for me but it would be good if you could find an account that does let you have DDs paid out.

As Jo says ring Co-op and ask to open a Cashminder account. You don't have to have a bank near you as you can use the post office. They give you an Electron card, DD's and SO's and even online and telephone banking.

Which bank are you with at the moment?

Personally i would not trust Lloyds TSB anyway as they usually say one thing and do another. Like others on here say go for the Co-op Casminder it has the lot and you will love it.

Good luck for Monday and do let us know how you got on.

    Hi,
Same as the others on the Coop Cashminder account. Would highly recommend it. I have an Electron card and DD's and a Standing Order.

Good luck for Monday. You''ll be fine. Take a book!

would arrange to move from tsb, left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. Nearly 100% trust with the co-op and as mentioned can be managed at your local post office so much easier to access too.

    good luck for Monday
  • I have just quickly scanned thro this link and not sure whether I have understood correctly (stand to be corrected of course) but if you are being made bankrupt, why are you still having Sky and broadband? not sure if I am missing something here, as to me this this option indicates that you have tried everything, sold anything possible etc to solve the debt problem but for one reason or another cant survive any other way. I do understand to a point and everyone is different and has different scenarios and hopefully never have to be in this position but one of the first things that I got rid of is Sky - get freeview and be done with it! there are quite a few accounts you can use tho and there are several links on this site, when I did research a while ago for a friend on benefits and with big debts she opted for Barclays Basic account and that is very good. stick in basic bank accounts into the search and it will bring useful info up

I live in an area that cannot get freeview and i do not have an anologue ariel either or i would quite happily settle for the 4 channels. I have the basic package at £21/month and as i have a child of 6 i feel i need my internet ( i thought it was classed as a essential nowadays?) My internet costs £3/week.
