There is another alternative especially if the cats are elderly like the Landlord it so have them put to sleep. It is probably kinder to do that than let them go to a stranger or cattery.

OMG, you cant put an animal down because they are old, the thought of that is just horrendous, they may have years of a nice life left, my Mum had a cat that lived until it was 19. Where are the cats located ?, I really really cant have them (I already have ten !!), but I would if I could. I will post ads for you, I will ask about, try phoning the RSPCA and ask them if they have anybody looking for an older cat, phone all the local vets, they may know of someone who is looking for cats, put ads in local shops, advertise on freead sites, ask neighbours, put leaflets in doors, try every avenue. Let us know what happens.

I have also sent a copy of the thread to my friend who lives in Bedfordshire to see if she can help

are the landlords worried about hairs and stuff? why doesn't she offer to have the carpets professionally cleaned when she leaves?

Oh it's such a shame for her though, I hope she finds a solution soon !
  • Can she not move in with a friend or relative and find somewhere else to live??? She can't get rid of her cats :(

To be fair, I think the OP meant that it might be kinder to the cats to have them PTS rather than the upheavel of going to cattery/rescue particularly since there are already so many cats waiting for homes!

Best of luck to your friend and well done for all the effort you're putting in for her and the cats:A

Has she tried talking to local vet surgeries? They often know of people who can help via their contacts with rescues or may have clients who mentioned that they are looking for pets.

    I've been Money Tipped!
We get quite a few appeals on freecycle such as small pets and cats where the owner has either died, children lost interest or other change of circustances. They get re-homed free of charge so it may be worth a try, if she is not joined to freecycle get her to join the 2 or 3 surrounding her area too as different mods allow different things.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks for all your concern.

I am going to join the websites mentioned and post for her to see if anyone can take them.

My freecycle doesn't allow posting pets and she wants to meet the people before she gives them up.

Shes only a week now until she has to move into the new place so its getting desperate.

Daisy, shes in Ampthill Bedfordshire but as i mentioned she would travel to drop them off just wants a good home for them.

She has made a flyer just need to work out how i can post a word document on the internet.
