I can't remember the exact details but from what i do remember the password is supposed to act like a pin on chip and pin so if its verified and correct then the onus is on you to prove you didnt carry out the transaction or it was fraudlent, same as chip and pin....0

Thanks for the help everyone.
So it looks like there's essentially no difference between Visa and Mastercard that would affect me.
I think I'll sign up for the Secure code thing next time I get asked by a reputable retailer.MFW #66 - £4800 target0 -
I've always tried to hold both Mastercard and Visa 'just in case', but my last remaining Visa card was converted to Mastercard by Halifax recently.
I've never seen one accepted without the other in the UK or abroad, but I know certain big events such as the Olympics have sponsorship deals where only one card is accepted.

MasterCard is generally more accepted, especially in Europe. And as someone else mentioned, many retailers prefer MasterCard because the charges are lower. In reality, most retailers will accept both.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0

VISA debit cards have chargeback, mastercard debit cards have no protection !
I'd still advise paying by credit card though ! ALL have protection.0 -
No, debit cards do NOT come under the CCA for as the name suggests the CCA covers 'credit' agreements only.0
