We have a problem in our house of getting contracts out with phone companies, we have very good credit score however we are often declined (orange and vodafone always). A while back someone tried to steal our details so that my have something to do with it.
Does anyone have any ideas/tips how to fix this problem?

You need to contact the credit agency's and sort it out with them. There's a way you can put a type of password on your credit file that you then give when a credit checks performed to prove that your you.0

The best thing credit agency will help is....
1 asking you to contact mobile company by yourself
2 ask you to wait for at least 3 months to try to get new contract again

So what are these companies for????0 -
Similar problem for me and today has been an incredibly frustrating day.
I have been declined credit for a mobile phone contract with o2 and no-one can tell me why. I have a perfect credit history, two credit cards and a mortgage (as well as a current mobile contract with 3) so I was baffled.
This was with o2, who tell me they do their credit checks with Equifax. I paid £15 for a credit score from Equifax, which rated me at 520 (anything above 475 is deemed excellent).
I have no idea what to do about this. Equifax tell me there is nothing to worry about yet o2 won't give me credit and say they don't get reasons why people fail, just a yes or no decision. Aside from this inconvenience I have to remortgage in a few months and worried this may stop me from doing so.
It's just so frustrating, "computer says no" but no-one can tell me why or what I can do about it.
Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to sort this out?0 -
O2 would not get their credit score for you from Equifax; they would obtain your credit report and calculate their own internal score based on what they see in there. So your best bet at finding out the reason why you were declined is to have a look at the report itself. Get any problems/mistakes sorted out and then try again.
I have heard many MoneySavers say that the quickest way to fail lots of credit checks is to not be on the electoral register - you might want to check your file to see that you're registered properly. Note that if you register and opt out of being in the edited register (that's used for junk mail mailouts) it will still show up in your file.0 -

That isn't true. This would take a long time to do, and credit checks are done within a couple of minutes. Equifax send O2 the credit score they have for you and O2 will then make an instant decision based on their own criteria, anything above say 500 for arguments sake would be an automatic accept, between 475 and 500 would be a refer, or accept but with a deposit needed, and below 475 would be a decline.0
