How long is a piece of string?

Bit of a strange question - can you clarify what you are asking? Can you afford to lock your money up for two or three years? Do you think interest rates will go up or down in the next couple of years?

    Depends on your personal circumstances.

For some people answer would be yes, others would be no and I guess some would fall into the dont know camp. ;)
  • I'm using my ISA to save up to pay off my mortgage, so a three-year term is fine for me - all depends on your personal circumstances, as bristolleedsfan says.

If it's your emergency fund, you would want to keep it on a much shorter (or even instant) term.
