Broadband, no phone, may move soon - answer?

I'm moving into a flat between selling our house and buying another one. There is no phone connected, although there is a phone socket and the flat also used to have an NTL cable connection. I need the Internet for Open University study and my daughter's schoolwork/Bebo/email. Little music/games/video downloading done, though I admit (sad, innit) to the odd Archers download. I don't want a landline, as I'll use my mobile (O2). I don't know how long I'll need the contract, but it could be a year. Obviously, as I don't know where I'm moving, I don't know if I will want to transfer any contract. TV is optional (I don't watch much). What's the best option (I keep getting bombarded by Virgin!)

either use the £29.99 connection offer on the Home Phones board(though that will put you in for 12 months phone line rental) and get a monthly contract with one of the ISPs that can use BT lines or get a mobile broadband contract I guess

You could try the mobile broadband I know o2 do one on on a month by month basis or a year basis.

^^yes a rolling contract, means you can cancel one month in advance, i would reccommened that

Advice needed.... Its a long story but...we had to move out of our house for financial reasons...our bt line has now been disconnected. We want to now move back into our house as the money situation is marginally improved...but...I will need to set up a broadband connection fairly sharpish as I need it for University etc. Can I call tiscali and get them to set up the £20per month line rental, uk calls etc... will they need an existing line do you think.....???
