o2

Just changed to O2's sim-only 20 pounds a month offer.

Rang yesterday to set it up. Received SIM and first bill today, which included a charge for yesterday's line rental!?

It was about 60p so after speaking to customer services - and telling them it's outrageous they charged me a day's line rental when there was no physical possibility of my having or using the SIM card - I let it go.

But it's the principal of the thing dammit - or is this common? (Tis my first contract!)

They did the same with me 68p over the £20 pm charge . But its still a good deal i went for the
600mins 1000txts plus unlimited landline calls , plus you can use your inclusive texts when aboard at a 4 to 1 ratio . All this for £20pm it takes some beating .
But do know what you mean how can they charge you line rental when you don't have the sim i bet this is a nice little earner for them .

Customer services gave me and various other people I know a £1 credit against my account to compensate for it (although I'm on a normal pay monthly rather than simplicity).

I asked them the same thing in April, here is their response

'Your order (SIM card) was dispatched on 18 April 2008 and on this date your account was activated on our network.
The line rental is charged from the date your account is activated. This is the reason you were charged 41p (excluding Value Added Tax) for 18 April 2008 as one day line rental.'

    In other words 'tough'.

  • I'm thinking of getting one of these sims too. Can i just ask if mms messages are included in the texts. Was told they were on a 4:1 ratio but just wanted it confirming as none of the other networks include mms.

    Thanks

From the O2 terms and conditions...
Sending one UK text uses one message. Sending one text message from abroad uses four messages. Sending one picture or video message from the UK or abroad uses four messages.

So if abroad you might as well use MMS messages as they "cost" the same :s
