Puppy training in central Scotland

Hi,

I was wandering if anyone could recommend someone who would come to our home to assist in training our puppies.

We thought about Bark Busters but have discounted them after reading some bad reviews.

We stay in the Falkirk area.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sure there will be someone out there.

But it might be better to take them to a group session (improved social skills for the dog etc). Around us they did them in one of the church halls.

Other benefit willl you will do the training and bond better with the dog and it will be a lot cheaper.

Most of the training can be done at home anyway. Get them to sit and stay before you put their food down is a good start and then build from there.

If doing it at home don't spend too long on it 10-20 minutes is plenty, it might sometimes seem you are getting knowhere. If possible use a whistle as well. Don't keep telling them, what to do keep commands short and simple otherwise all they will hear eventually is blah, blah, blah and pay no attention to you.

With my boy now I don't talk to him at all now when we are out. It is all whistle and hand commands. Two blasts to come and one to attract his attention followed by a hand command, either left, right or sit.

Out of interest what type of dogs?

Go speak to your vet they normally know who in the area does training classes, also there are a few differant classes - obedience and ring craft (show your dog) and i found the ring craft really good it got me out for a few hours a week cost £2 a week and you could practice everything at home so they taught me too;) plus it socialised my puppy (at the time) and they learn from the other dogs too.

You say puppies  - its best to try training them on a one to one basis and 10 mins sessions work better than a few hours as they will learn when its fun but not when bored ;)
The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I went to really good classes in Denny - held in what I think is a Scout Hall or YMCA hall. Broadley's vets in Stirling also run classes.
