Thanks - think I will go for the XT. I think I was thinking about the XLR because of the wider seat and the cute colours and lining (I am a sucker when it comes to colour), however I have been told that the XLR is rather heavy compared to the XT.

I did think about the Zapp but I think they are 3 wheels, I would prefer 4.

http://www.johnlewis.com/230447256/Product.aspx we have this one and have been very happy with it, it's not heavy and easy to put up and down,

is it worth just hiring one when you get there, at that age you can probably get away with him walking at the airport either end till you can get the hire one? also reduces risk of damage in transit.

I think I might buy a cheap one to take on the flight but still need one as my Loola is getting to heavy now he is growing up.

    Thanks.
that is the one I am considering as well as this one http://www.johnlewis.com/230469203/Product.aspx?SearchTerm=maclaren+xt

I just want to make the right decision as I dont (apart from a cheap one) want to buy another buggy. How old is your little one, I want one that will last to whatever age they use pushchairs for.

    Thanks

my DD is 22 months, we has a huge travel system when she was born but swapped it for this one when she turned one as it was lighter to lift in and out of the car. its still in very good nick nearly a year later and it's easy to clean as well. the only thing is i have a small car and it doesn't fit in the boot, it lives standing up behind the drivers seat, a bit of a pain but i can live with that!
  • Petite Star have recently brought out the Zia 4 http://www.petitestarproducts.com/productdetail.cfm?ProductID=180 , which by the name suggests that it is a 4 wheeler . Exactly the same as the 3 wheeler but this time it has 4 wheels :j
I personally don't like Maclarens , boring colours and also very high handles , ok if you are 6ft tall but like me I am 5ft 4" and can't push my sisters XT at all !

Thomas came home after 3 months and 2 days in hospital weighing 5lb 15ozs
    Thomas weighed 21lb 4ozs on his 1st birthday , a total weight gain of 18lbs 5ozs !

I've had a Maclaren Techno XT since the birth of my 3rd child - didn't even bother using my old travel system!! I do have a knowing smile now when I see mums (although I did it myself with my 1st) who buy these really really expensive 'systems' before the baby arrives, then you see them 6 months later with a buggy:rotfl:

Have to say - it's been FANTASTIC!!!! Am really pleased with it. Cover comes off & washes well - my daughter's nearly 2, it's dragged in & out of the car for school runs etc etc and looks great still!

Got mine from Kiddicare (I'm a sucker for colours too!) Mine has a red head rest & part of the seat covers red too - if I remember rightly they also do blue & green (or they did when I bought mine!)

The handles do adjust for taller people - I'm 5 ft 4 aswell and have no problems pushing mine - perhaps your sister's is set at a 'tall' height?

No they are on the lowest setting as I played about and made them even taller then put them right down and still couldn't push it .
