End of Month Contract Credit Woes

Hi,
I wanted to say a huge hello to everyone in this forum, I have never posted or indeed looked at this website, yet I had heard so much about it. How strange is that?

Anyway, I am looking at getting myself a contract mobile phone, I need one as I am spending too much on PrePay and my phone is battered too. I guess I am looking at saving some money and contract is certainly the most cost effective way for my usage. the problem I have is that my credit rating is awful. Now, I know that this is something that will have been posted before a million times or so however, I have heard that the networks relax the credit checking at the end of the month to allow for them hitting their numbers and making target. I am not sure if this is true or not but it would make sense. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this or know any suggestions that can help me get what I need sooner rather than later?

Thanks
