Online Electronics Purchase - What Card?
Comments

hmmm,, I can't decide which of these 3 cards to apply for...
I want to use it for online purchases for the section 75 protection, and also earn some cashback.. I intend to pay my balance off every month.
What do you think?
Egg Money
Amex Platinum Cash Back
Barclays Cash Back0 -
There are very few that offer protection for the purchases once you've bought it (usually for 90 days or something). Egg Money (and the John Lewis Partnership card) offer 'in-transit' insurance. Essentially they insure the product until you get it home/it is delivered or for 30 days whichever is sooner. There is small print (with Egg it's a minimum purchase value of £25, I think JLP card has no minimum) so it's probably better to check it out to see if it's for you before you apply.
If it was me - I'd go for Egg Money, simply because it offers 1% cashback with relatively few strings attached unlike Barclaycard with it's time limited offers, Amex and it's poor acceptance rate compared to MasterCard/Visa and the additional 'insurance' of the in-transit protection. Egg has a capped cashback rate of £200 per annum and I'm not sure about the others though.0
