I've been wanting a NUS card/student card but I'm 16 and going into AS Levels this September as part of 6th form and not college. Do I qualify for this?

No, NUS is for uni students.
There used to be connexions card for A level students, but it closed last year.
The new one seems to be this ISIC:
http://www.isiccard.com/
it gives similar discounts to NUS and costs £9.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

NUS Extra is available to all Uni and FE students as long as your college's Students' Union is affiliated to the NUS.
You can apply online if your college is in the list on http://cards.nus.org.uk/buy/ (you need to upload a photo if you're applying online and it costs £10). You can probably apply in person in your college with a passport photo (and the £10).
I've heard that some 6th forms who aren't affliated to the NUS are allowing applications for NUS Extra cards. I'm not sure how it works but it might be worth asking your sixth form's student welfare (or similar) department if you can do this.0 -
Yeah, I used to use an ISIC card when I was at sixth form...some places will take it, other places won't - but it's better than nothing.0

I'm going to tell my sixth form to join so we can get discounts. If they don't do it I'll threaten to leave, they love me so much they'll do anything

In all seriousness now... Do ask them, no harm in trying.
I'm definetly going to ask about it, I love discounts! Although, they encourage me to spend more

Im just about to go into my second year at college (and not sixth form) and many people i know agree NUS Extra is a load of crap. The standard NUS card gives you pretty good discounts anyway. If your looking to save money you will generally get better deals online than at book/music shops + student discounts. The standard card only costs £1. Unless its changed since last year.
No experience with teh ISIC thing.0 -
The standard card should not cost a penny. It's supposed to be free as a basic membership card for the NUS (which you automatically become a member of if you enroll at a college affiliated to the organisation). I'm not sure of the position of the NUS on the sale of NUS Democracy cards (the standard NUS Card) but I'm fairly certain they're supposed to be free.
You're basically right though, I've found that I can get many discounts by using my college ID card (including cineworld and Topman). I think most places only require proof that you're a student. I can only imagine it being a problem where the store has an agreement with the NUS over student discounts.0 -

Hey, do you have a link to request one of these online or do they have to go through college?
if they have to go through college/uni do you have a link to NUS stating that they should be free, in which case ill ask my tutor why they are charging for them. Not in a malicious way i just wanna know
