School sounds very posh!!! xx#JusticeForGrenfell0

Nah its not lol
Its happening a lot in London at the moment, but I think it should make the schools better as there is a lot more money being pumped into them than the government ever did as the money is coming from private investors, I think if I remember rightly from the open day they had £70k last year to spend on after school/out of school activities such as days out and trips away this year its been doubled!
The school day will be slightly longer too but they are only getting 20 mins of homework per night..... hoorah!0 -
and I can't believe how specific and fussy they are - it's costing a fortune!
My DS starts secondary school next week. We live in a deprived rural area, yet the school is incredibly strict about uniform...to the point that the only coats that the kids are allowed to wear are ones bought from the school (and they're only thin pac-a-mac style coats). I honestly don't know how they expect parents to afford it all. I wouldn't have been able to, had my ex not contributed towards it.
Fortunately my son is not the least bit interested in labels/brands. He's opted for a pair of £12.99 shoes with the simpsons logo on. The only other thing he's made a request for is a Spongebob lunch box tin he's seen in a local shop. He wants this one (but as it's pink I'm going to try and persuade him to get this one instead). I'm trying to reduce the risk of teasing....it's tough enough being in your first year at senior school!
My dd is at junior school and fortunately uniform isn't compulsory as they understand there's a lot of parents here on low income. DD likes wearing uniform but it's nice to know that if I haven't managed to wash her uniform I can send her in 'civvies'!!DS didn't wear school uniform at all for his last 2 years at the school so he's in for a shock next week!

I was really pleased with my school uniform bargains from Tesco's yesterday.
I had £5 from my clubcard vouchers, I also had a voucher for '£4 off a £20' spend on clothes - on top of that the back to school clothing range is all on 3 for 2. I managed to get DS 3 pairs of black school trousers, dd 2 packs of hair accessories and a pack of crop tops, plus a hoodie for ds - all for £13.50! Go me!:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -

Sadly I don't get to choose to buy uniform anywhere other than in the school outfitters in town. The Senior school policy is very strict
At least I didn't need to get her a new blazer, that would've set me back another £40+
I'm hoping that wherever she goes for 6th form will not have such a strict policy, but unfortunately most of our local schools do.Thanks to all who post comps :A :T0 -
We get no allowance anymore for uniforms & no way can I afford more than about £20 to get everything she needs - if the school said she had to have a £40 blazer or whatever I'll tell them to buy one cos I certainly won't!!!!2023 wins - Rice Krispies, Avene Micellar Gel, Barbie Toy, £20 Apple Gift Card, KFC 6 piece bargain bucket, Chloe Nomade perfume, Barbie Toy (second one), Sanctuary Spa Sleep Balm, E45 Moisturising Lotion, Trolls Hamper, 12 Tonie Characters, Sure deodorant, Good Home Utensil holder, £5 Costa Gift Card, Neutrogena Micellar Jelly, Soap & Glory Mascara, Persil capsules,0

We started buying the girls uniforms the week after they broke up from school....I had been saving a little on one of theAsda christmas saving cards and then each week got a couple more items..Obviously leaving the shoes till last week...Having the 3 girls is just a nightmare each year it's like a mad sale when you go shopping..Everything off the shelves and very few sizes left so I just knew this year I was going to be prepared. It's all the extras as well, Lunchboxes, PE Kits , Coats , Stationary, Cooking aprons for my senior school daughter..I was able to get 2 girls from asda but had to shop at the school shop for my eldest..Trying to save a little for eldest son's graduation on september 8th as would love a nice dress but really tough the last couple of weeks so will probably have to go Matalan...Cant go wearing Jeans..Best Competition Wins-Brand New Vauxhall Corsa & £30000
