Do you walk funny, seriously how you walk can change how things wear. My old Martial Arts teacher used to be able to tell where someone had old injuries by looking at the sole of their trainers, how there hips were sitting etc.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. I do have bad posture, I stoop forward cos I'm tall - which I'm trying to fix. I also walk very quickly. Although, now that you mention it, I do walk over on my feet (as my mum calls it, not sure of the proper medical term) so that I also get through shoes and trainers like there's no tomorrow. I have to wear boots otherwise after literally a few weeks, if I just put my trainers down on the ground in front of me I can quite clearly see they both slope to the inside-edge, like a listing ship! Once I wore my trainers in so much that the inside edges were touching the floor!
Now I feel like I have a list of medical conditions, but I'm glad you pointed that out as there's a good chance they are related - i.e. I'm not walking properly! How do I fix that?0 -
I have this problem with my hubby's jeans that he wears for work. He's slim and has baggy jeans too. I know buy cheap jeans from Matalan and I use an old pair to patch them. Beccause they are between the legs you can see the patch (although it is the same colour) but them when he gets to work he puts overalls on as well.TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0

See a physio, seriously they will get to the root of what is putting you out of kilter. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I'm not offering a solution to the jeans problem, unfortunately (bar patching them when new, which is what I would try) but maybe you would benefit from classes in the Alexander Technique? A lot of the problems we all have can be put down to bad posture - I'm thinking about the way you walk over on your feet. The Alexander Technique will train you to stand, sit and walk correctly. Many people have benefitted from this; if you google you should be able to find classes near you. My husband is also lean and tall, and finds that stooping and slouching causes him back, neck and shoulder pain. He is trying to correct this himself. It may also be worth asking your doctor to refer you to a podiatrist (foot doctor), too. You could have your shoes built up to help correct the way you walk. It's nice to be tall, especially for a man, but it does have its problems. I know, having a DH and two sons all 6'4" tall!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

When I read your post the Alexander Technique came to my mind too. It's all about posture and getting everything realigned that has gone out of kilter.0

Get a referral to podiatry (you can self refer here.. not sure about where you are though).. physio can do nothing.. my daughter has EXACTLY the same problem as does my husband and you can get inner sole things for the inside of your shoes which tip your feet out.
If your walk in it means your hips are twisted, it puts strain on your knees as they are pulled inwards and as a result when you walk you have extra movement on your bottom.. hence the jean wear!!
Over time this leads to back and hips problems, damage to knee cartelidge. Ankle problems and if you are still growing (which I doubt!) deformaties to the bones too... We discussed this last week.. my daughter is developing a curve on her spine due to this!
I assumed you were a man from your user id.. lol.
And don't stoop when you walk.. it is most unattractive.. Many women really like tall men () and especially when they walk correctly.. back straight.. don't be ashamed of being tall.. it is a fantastic thing to be (from an entire 5ft 2 3/4 of me!!)
Orthopaedics can help with the shoe thing too.. try it.. it does make a massive difference.
ETA.. if there is an underlying issue the Alexander technique will make no difference.. but it is worth trying I've heard very good things about it too!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Sounds like your feet are over-pronated, were you told as a child you had talipes?
Do you purposly stoop or can you not straighten your upper back fully?0 -

Oh and aren't you a lovely creature.. there is a free rock in the corner, i'll get your blankie. I think there is a reading course about to start should you be able to make it...
My daughters consultant orthopaedic surgeon said it does NOT work if there are underlying bone malformations (that was the crucial bit.. I can explain it in idiot terms if you require me to do so, I've explained things like this to my 5 year old you shouldn't be much different).. if you'd like to take it up with him and his 37 years experience I can pass on your details at our next appointment with a very highly qualified and well experienced nationally reknowned surgeon who has dealt with thousands of cases where the patients have been for such treatments and still needed corrective surgery.
I have never smoked anything in my entire life.. apart from fish.. but I don't think that counts... but you may feel inclined to pop it in your pipe and smoke it..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
....anyway, back to the original post (!!!)
Sorry joebloggs, I did assume you were a girl, I don't know why
Where we are there are some little independent places that do alterations, etc. If you've got one of these near you you could maybe ask in there. They'd know if there's anything that can be done to prevent or to repair the holes.0
