Unfortunately this is a standard wait period for such things for homeowners and tenants/LLs alike.confusciacat wrote: »We have a broken fridge....Landlady can't get her Bosch man out for another week.
It sounds as though your LL is doing what she can. What do you do in the meantime? Think "outside the box/fridge". The warm summer weather is nowhere to be seen. You really only need to keep milk or meat products refrigerated - milk can be bought in smaller quantities & kept in the coolest part of the house with a couple of cold wet teatowels over the top. Buy meat daily or be adventurous and go veggie for a week.confusciacat wrote: »She says she will reimburse for the food we had to chuck, but what do we do in the meantime. We can't store any of our food so will have to have takeaways, or expensive 'portioned' food etc etc.
Of course you can " demand " but that never gets as good a response as being reasonable. You really can plan a few meals without wastage.Get on over to the Old Style Board on this forum - they'll give you plenty of advice and some of these :jconfusciacat wrote: »Can we demand the fridge be fixed immediately?? Can we charge for wastage we have over the next week - food that's leftover from supper that then has to be chucked? And so on.......
Stop worrying about "what ifs" . Going without a fridge for a short period is not a crisis, it's an inconvenience and it sounds as though your LL is doing what she can at the moment.confusciacat wrote: »ANd what if Bosch man turns up next week, says we need parts and they're another week on order....??0 -
Hallo All
Thanks for the reasonable replies. I think I was having a bad day yesterday, just coming home late on Monday to find all our food gone off after a couple fo days away tipped me over the edge. Plus we've had soooooo much to deal with over the past 18months in this flat, from no hot water, no heating in the winter - which took 4 months to repair, an ant infestation in the cavity walls etc etc... the people in the house upstairs (which she also rents to them) refuse to deal with her coz she's a nightmare about getting things sorted, so sometimes it's difficult to see the woods for the trees in terms of what is reasonable action from her and what is taking the pi55....
thanks again, chaps.0
