P.S. Is anybody else having trouble with this site today?
Eg. if I click on 'quick links' to try and access my subscribed threads, it just widens the page I am on.
I'm wondering if it is this site or my computer?0 -
Update: Having had a break, everything seems to be working fine again, and I can get to my subscibed threads etc! Panic over (for now!)0

We have to do our server moves at 1am, why can't you?;)
Seriously hope it all goes well for you; I always dread major IT moves like this, there's always one cable that doesn't reach, fit or work, and it's always the trickiest one to find!
Don't forget to verify the warranties, and use a rubber mallet to perform hardware checks on those servers near the end of warranty - surprising how many fail needing a new warranty replacement!:rotfl:A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -

Who is on Paid to Shop? We could have an emergency flylady thread on there, I visited the MSE camp there when the site was under attack and very reassuring it was too!
Vote now, we need to plan, somebody pack extra stardrops and vinegar

Hi folks,
to answer a couple of questions.
1. Why Saturday. Well its by far the quietest day of the week. Weekends are always the quietest times and saturday the quietest of those we get three to four times more people in on weekdays.
2. Why is it closed. We can keep the main site open on our backup site but the processing power needed to keep the forum going is too much.
3. Why is it being done. The forums are now zipping (im surprised to read a few reports of slowness that simply isn't echo'd by the majority of feedback) but the site is still growing ferociously and for once we want to be ahead of the game both in terms of capacity and redundancy to prevent problems in the future.
So hopefully it should be quick on Saturday and up and running smoothly - they've rather cleverly chosen a period when Im away to do it - so no nagging boss saying "are we there yet"Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

You can always phone. :rolleyes:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
