thanks bride on a budget. lol funny you mentioned that site - thats where the caravan is! if your interested to have a look its on the used caravan section on page 9, the last one. thanks againxXx0

batchy - thanks for that - encouraging to hear. yes about the washing machine sitation - we thought we would put a veranda around the caravan and then put a small garden shed to side where we could put the washing machine and tumble dryer. Do you happen to know what council tax is on a caravan., its 12ft x 38ft if that makes any difference - 2 bedroom. Well we would be looking to pay back the loan over 5 years so we would be there for atleast 6 years - could be longer depending on prices of renting/buying at the timexXx0

Sounds like it may be what you're looking for. The only thing I can think of is when you come to sell - people usually like them already sited on parks with facilities etc so they will have the added cost of moving it as I presume if you did sell it, it would have to move off your land?
don't expect to make money on it, but you sound like you already are aware of this...
but apart from that, why not? - they can be quite cosy!!

Hi Stacie
I would say have you stayed in a caravan for longer than a couple of days? If no, then would it be possible to stay in one similar to the one you are thinking of buying? It could be a complete shock to come from a house to a caravan?
Also, re: the money did you not say you had £20K for a deposit on a house (or your parents were giving you that money)? could you not use that for the caravan? Sorry if i have made that up, im having a bad brain day!
If you are sure then personally I can see no real reason why not to go for it.
xDebt: just my mortgage

The council tax would probably be band B-C depending on you local area's judgement, but would be the best part of £100 pm depending on the local authority rates.
Mine is basically the same as my flat, again single occupancy discounts if necessary...Plan

this is me being nosey here, but how much do these things cost to deliver?
(ignore me if you'd rather not say!)0 -
hello again Amy,
Thats a good idea - i will look into that! Yes I do have a 20k from parents but i dont think they would be pleased me spending it on a caravan. I thought we could get a loan for the caravan and then when we to sell the caravan add that amount to the £20k thats already there and what do you know - you've shrunk your future mortgage by having a bigger desposit. that was the theory anyway¬xXx0 -

obviously depending on the location, the quote for this one is £600 delivered which i didnt think was bad as its an hour buy car from them to us, and of course they got that wide load thing that goes along first. i will look around for cheaper quotes again thoughxXx0 -
But borrowing money when you have money is a waste of interest. But you'll lose money on the caravan in the mean time too.
I don't see how it adds up long term.0 -
poppysarah - my parents are giving me that money as a deposit for a house and thats what I want to spend it on. But due to the current situation of money and house prices and renting prices it is not possible at the moment. I worked out the sums and over 5 years it is cheaper to buy a caravan than to rent. Still giving me an income at the end. I dont see what you mean unless there is somthing i am missing?xXx0
