Completely agree about the leapster and the best thing is it's educational. there are maths questions or spelling & they don't feel like they are learning at all.. I have 3 between 4 children & 2 of them work through the tv so the 1 without can at least watch & they join in together. Another absolute must is brio train track. most toys over time have been broken & binned or just not played with but the brio is out on a regular basis. all 4 children play with it & see who can build the biggest track, we actually have enough to go round the whole bedroom with lots of details & circles inside lol. my children range in age from 4-10.

Sorry if it just a coincidence however yous username suggests you are in Newcastle and the company is also based somewhere in the north east however shows no contact address or details other than a mobile number or an email address.
MSE doesn't allow companys or individuals to advertise their businesses on here. Sorry if this is not the case however with this being your post it suggests it is very likely.

  • Hello

Thank you for your reply, I was given this site for getting good advice by my friend, i decided to join in the conversation when browsing the website for tips, my user name Newcastle is because I am from Newcastle and I do know the fair trade small site from an event they attended in the north east. I apologise for upsetting anyone I was just replying to a message and suggesting a site.

  • My son (5) plays with Power Rangers toys to this day even though we went through the Ben 10 period. He uses his playmobil castle to play with the toys and uses imagination to combine the knights & the rangers. I love this.

Polly pocket is my nieces (nearly 7) choice right now, but she too plays with them.

What they both play with when together, is the playmobil campervan.

Playmobil is expensive but there are so many little bits, that they love it. Niece puts out all of the plates and makes sure dinner is on and DS runs away with the bikes and they argue like hell over it, but they all end up sleeping.
  • Hello

Just reading your message, my niece has just asked for polly pockets for her birthday they seem to be the "in thing" and friends of ours visited and theirs boys had power rangers 2
  • My instore has pollypockets half price reduced from 3.99 to 1.99 if it helps. I really recommend there, wilkos and supermarkets particularly at sale times for cheap pressies. I'm following the advice of one poster I can't remember if it was Rainmac or Rustyflange and doing mixing bowl cookery sets for way less than a fiver..... I'm planning to give them to 4-6 year olds. You can get smart price mixing bowl for 69p, whisk for 41p, sugar strands for 20p, cake mixes 50-70p etc.... With a nice bit of cello it looks fab! See finished baskets for piccies altho it was a few pages back....

  • Not sure if this would be the right thread, however, i recently hit upon the idea of keeping a pen and paper handy and when the kids are watching tv and start shouting 'mum can i have that for xmas' i make a note of the name of the toy on the paper so that when friends and relatives say what does so and so want for xmas, i can show them the list.

That way they know they are buying something the kids actually want and will use. Obviously i wouldn't put the expensive things on the list (i'm not that daft lol) but it will be much more of suprise when they open their gifts on christmas day
