Ikea Sofas (Ektorp)

Hello,

We are considering buying the Ektorp Ikea sofa in leather in the next couple of weeks. Does anyone have any feedback on these sofas? Are they any good? Would you buy one again?

Would be grateful for any feedback (good or bad) before we go and buy one!

Many thanks!

  • I've recently got myself a sofa from Ikea. I'm really pleased with.

Before buying it i had a good look round all the specialist sofa stores. The reason i got mine from Ikea was because i had the funds to pay the whole amount up front which meant i saved about £200 compared to buying the equivilent product from a 'specialist'

Thank you! Anyone else with any advice?
  • I got my kramfors leather sofa from there,

Love it, if a little firm...

Searched high and low in the specialst stores after something similar and went for it even though family didn't like it, but it was for me and my first place and i new i wanted that one... great value if you've got the money up front for Ikea

I bought a sofabed from Ikea about 3 years ago now, it's in the back room and I'm very pleased with it. It's a metal framed one and even now has stayed quite stylish. I reckon you'd have to have an elephant sit on it before it would break.
The only problem I had was my own fault, I went on my own to buy it and couldn't lift it into the car :rotfl:

I had the Ektorp sofa for a few years, but had the washable removable cover one.
It was very comfy and I only got rid when I changed the decor.
It was still in good condition after about 3yrs wear and the covers washed in the machine lovely.

I've got a leather ikea sofa that was bought about 1 yrs ago. I've also got a dfs sofa bought less than 4 yrs ago.

the ikea one looks better than the dfs one. the leather is slightly more worn on corners but still looks reasonably smooth, but the upholstery is still as supportive as it was when new.
the dfs one sags and the leather looks wrinkly.

I'd go to ikea again but not dfs.
  • I don't know the moel name, but I bought a black leather 3-seat sofa from IKEA about 9 years ago and am still really pleased with it!

it is still really comfy (it is our only sofa and we sit on it all the time evenings & weekends) and in good condition - I only 'clean & feed' it once a year.

The only damage to it is a scuff on the back which we did whilst moving house.

It has survived kids climbing on it, spilling drinks on it, etc, etc, no problem.

I would happily buy another from them when this one gives up the ghost, but I'm expecting it to last a few more years yet!

doesnt anyone find that leather is too cold in winter and makes you go all sweaty in the summer if your skin is directly in contact with it?

I always found it ok when I had my leather sofa and didn't stick to it or anything if it was hot ! :)
