EDIT : for confirmation having just checked my last Equifax report. The longest search shown - 15 months.
Just noticed your edit exel. Could you say what 'type' of product the search was for?

By all means YB. It was for Clode Finance ( a company which deals with finance on purchases from retail stores).

I ordered goods, then cancelled due to the ineptness of said organisation.

This is the ONLY one to go past the 12 month mark. Were the problems/cancellation the reason it's stayed ? I wonder, but it goes to show that it does happen.

They'd probably have to decline the cheque book as well then, because that (technically) gives a £3,000 O/D facility alongside a cheque guarantee card

I hear what you say, but the odds of probability ? As we both know YB when it comes to finance the unexpected often crops up and nothing is certain (even probable) as the anomylies crop up far too often to be able to judge accurately.

Credit/Finance a mysterious black art that one day perhaps we'll have a clearer picture of, but until then we can only ALL assume.

How did you find out about the £100 as I need a new current account, tired of dealing with Citibank?

When I applied for my Flex Account I declined the overdraft (I just wanted it for foreign spending) but I still have a chequebook and guarantee card (I even checked the hologram to make sure before I posted).

Also, this could be quite important, I don't know about with the Co-Op but when I see "current PLUS" account it makes me think of the ones that charge a monthly fee just for having them. Is that the case here?

How do you know it's full search ? It won't be visible on your report yet !

It came up a day after on the report, I have a 30 day free trial, I dont believe you can opt out of the overdraft facilty with the co op hence the searches.

I think i was turned down for possible money cleaning/washing

I concur with you YB, its a full search type, I applied and was turned down by the co op in the last few days!

So if we take this as the general concensus...

Based on what i mentioned earlier - with a full search - do you think its likely I'd be turned down / not ?

I just dont want another 'black mark' on my record since i already got one from Capital CC at Easter time...
    CC1: [strike]1,500[/strike] CC2:[strike]£830[/strike] Vanquis [strike]£1500[/strike] £2000 left
    S.Elec: [strike]£258[/strike] £ 0
    CT [strike]1734.52[/strike] £ 0
    Ebay £ 10.00 /MystShop £ 17.00/Quidco £ 0 so far!
  • Okay I thought I would let everyone know I left in to my local Co-op branch to ask about this account yesterday and set one up.

The lady I talked to explained that she had spoken to her head office regarding the £800 deposit that needs to be paid in before the 21/08/08 and due to most people being paid at the end of each month this date is being wavered so long as they can see over £800 going in for three months you will still be credited with the £100.

You don't need to close your existing current account or even use their automated account transfer system. I explained I had a loan and long term savings account linked to my current banks current account and that it needs to remain open. She said thats perfectly fine.

As for the credit check being too harsh well I have a late payment from 12 months ago on my score, I have opened two savings accounts, a loan and a credit card in the past 6 months, all leaving a footprint on my record and even with all this she ran the check and said it came back with the highest possible score and is 100% perfect for opening this account.

Perhaps that info might be of some use to people here.

Savings account searches do not leave a "footprint" that is visible to other lenders so you can discount these.

I wouldn't read too much into that. :)
