I have some dried marrowfat peas in my cupboard and I want to make a nice chunky pea and ham soup. Does anyone have any idea?

Sammy, dried peas usually need to be soaked overnight. I usually put the peas to soak, and put the ham with a chopped onion or 2 in the slow cooker, then next morning, put peas in with the ham. It cooks all day and is delish by tea time ;)

No painting for me just yet. Cant decide what colour to do it

    Morning Lovely Peeps:wave:

I am feeling so much more positive about things today:D I have managed over the last few days to sort out my bookwork pile and have finished off some accounts that were getting my down.

    I have yet to do:

    1 vat retrun
    4 year ends/tax returns...........

and that will be the end of the business once and for all:j I reckon that is about 5 days work for me so I should be done by the end of next week before I start this new job (if I get it/take it). I will miss the extra money but if I have a full time teaching post it will make up for it.

I will be able to pick up the phone now without getting that churning feeling in my stomach incase its a client chasing me for their accounts:o

((((Hugs)))) to those that need them today.

I am off out today as we are taking the MIL for a day out and a meal as its 2 years last Weds since we lost FIL and thought she could do with cheering up.

It's a very unusual occurrence for me, in fact I'm not sure it's ever happened before! I've sat down and had breakfast now, probably won't move for the rest of the day :rotfl:

I usually buy a bacon or gammon joint (usually found near the bacon/sausages at Tesco ;) ) I cover the meat with boiling water, chuck in the onions and cook overnight in the slow cooker. By morning, the meat will be cooked and tender. There is sometimes fat on the joint, which floats and can be removed at this point. Put the peas in with the meat, and leave cooking all day. By tea time, you should have a thick hearty pea and ham soup. Serve with the compulsary crusty bread ;)
