Wow, amazing how such a nice sounding house with a big garden and 4 bedrooms can only sell for the same price as a 1 bed flat here in the south east! Life would be so much easier if my girlfriends family wasn't down here and we could move up north... lol. Could probably buy a property on a 50% LTV! lol0

Just an idea, im looking to buy a property and have thought about buying at auction, but what ive noticed several times over the last couple of months is people putting adverts in the local newspaper with a ''''GUIDE'''' price for there house and then after people have viewed it are invited to put in sealed bids for the property, this is like an auction but obviousley it can be better for the seller as they decide which offer to accept ie highest offer or the one that can be completed quickest. As anybody got any thoughts on this.0

my only thought on that is unless you can get a good number of serious buyers through the door this will not work. the point of such activity is to create an urgency to buy and timeliness is everything. the only drawback is if you get one seal bid today and another in 3 months it isnt practical (not unheard of in the current market)."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0 -

Off topic but boy is that link interesting.....just looked up my parents street and it has the next door neighbours house on it. What makes it more interesting to me, is the story behind each sale price, mind you, anyone looking at that would wonder about hellish neighbours with one house being sold 4 times since 2001 when it fact it was an old lady going into a home and the house being priced to sell extremely quickly at 80k (plus a little bit of naiveity coming in on house prices) in 2001, someone then selling onto family at £110k(with a tidy profit) due to relocating in 2002, someone paying way too much at £187k(which we thought at the time) in 2004 and then selling at a loss at £177k due to a marriage split and the need to move quickly in 2006.
My parents had the same neighbour for over 30 years and have now had 4 different ones in the last 8!
Edit - Mind you, just looked at another house on the street and am amazed at the jump in price there too.
April 2005 sold for 170k
July 2005 sold for 195k
Aug 2007 sold for 370k!We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
