Note that you will require an Olympus xD card (like the ones from 7dayshop above) for the Panoramic feature as no other xD card supports that function.

Unsure if this has a digital zoom as well - but don't go through the link above - go through https://www.quidco.com to get cashback at 4.5% on top of all the savings mentioned above :D
That would be good, but don't Quidco take £5 from your first transaction?

Whilst your there, what's this 'code for Advantage points' thing? Obviously, I don't spend enough time on this site, as I have no idea what is being written about.
Also, do these 3059 points get exchange for cash at the point of sale?

I have been looking at buying a new digital camera for some time - doing lots of reasearch when I saw these 1/2 price cameras from Boots.

Both cameras are similar spec 5 million pixels and 3 x optical zoom and weigh about .29lbs or 130g without battery and card The best price I could find the Olympus for elsewhere from a reputable seller was £180 and £160 for the Samsung. If anything the Samsung is slightly better specified - when in film mode it uses 30 frames per second whereas the Olympus is only 15 frames per second, and the Samsung has better compression software, there is slightly broader ISO selection on the Samsung, etc. However, there is very little between them - both come with rechargeable batteries.

Having gone to a local Boots shop to look at them both (incidentally both still full price in the shop) the Samsung is smaller but chunkier, the Olymus bigger but thinner. However, the Samsung while feeling fairly solid is made out of plastic and doesn't feel as well made as the Olympus metal case. The Samsung is something that would easily go into a purse or a handbag, whereas the Olympus would go in a shirt pocket.

I bought the Olympus, because it felt a blt more solid and because it has a better name - so I would expect the lens/image sensor/etc to be better and therefore get slightly better quality pictures. Neither are technology leading cameras - 8 million pixels +, but at the price you are effectively paying after Boots triple points and £10s or 1,500 extra Boots points, these are both great cameras for the money. The Olympus slightly more expensive, plus another £10 probably for an XD rather than SD card.

    1) £5 per year - but you'll be amazed at how many places you can use it for https://www.quidco.com

    2) Look in the vouchers forum - we're not allowed to post voucher codes anywhere else. Hint ;)

    3) 3059 points becomes £30.59 to spend in-store ONLY

Just ordered one of the Samsung cameras (the Digimax U-CA5 in red) because despite the fact that it may feel less robust than the Olympus:
    1. It comes to £72.90 after the Advantage points discounts :D
    2. It's a 5.0 Megapixel camera
    3. The cheapest price Kelkoo can find for this is £147.99 delivered!
    4. Video mode is better than the Olympus
    5. Our dog just ate my daughter's Olympus C310 (honest! - well she ate the zoom part anyway)
    6. It's only £72.90 :D Did I mention how cheap this was?
    7. It comes with a rechargeable battery.
I can't see how this can't be a FANTASTIC bargain - No. 1 daughter will be very pleased this Christmas.

Noticed today that most of the digi cameras on offer on the web site (1/2 Price ones) are now available in store now. Seen a shelf full of the Samsung U-CA5 and Olympus FE-5500 with offer price.

Steve's review of the Samsung UCA5. It concludes that despite the impressive specs for the money, the pics are only 'average' - see the sample pics.

For the same price at Boots i.e. £99.99 before Advantage points there's also the Kodak LS743 on offer. Although this is an older camera and only comes with 4.0MP max resolution and 2.8x optical zoom, it's of a more robust build and the picture quality was judged excellent. See sample pics

So you pays yer money and you takes yer choice.
