Hastings?

I have applied for a job at Conquest hospital. If successful, I would be relocating to Hastings. Does anybody which areas I should be looking to live/avoid? I don't really know Hastings at all.

Thanks,

Tired

Like anywhere really there are not so nice places and not too bad ones- hopefully someone who knows the area better will be along soon. I definatley wouldn't buy their atm though as prices are way over inflated due to people moving there when they got priced out of brighton. But IIRC renting is quite cheap around Hastings area.

I had a caravan holiday there once. Rained constantly, but I seem to recall it was a nice area ... sorry, not much help but as it's pouring here I'm replying to most posts!

Depends what you want. Village life? Semi-rural? Isolated? Town? How long a commute? Do you want to drive to the Conquest? Use Public Transport?

I live about 10 miles away between Staplecross & Bodiam, so give us a clue and I'll gladly let you have some suggestions :)

If you like sea views, Hastings has a large selection. :) Seafront is on the direct bus route to the hospital, around 20 mins drive.

Give us some more details buying or renting, price range what you need, whether you want the town or country and what sort of house appeals.

I guy at work moved to Hastings a couple of years ago. If I remember, I'll ask him on Tuesday what it's like there. However, I won't be able to post any comments until Tuesday evening as for some reason I always get the "your post is not long enough" (even though it is) error at work.

  • Thank you for your replies.
I am looking to rent a one bedroom flat.
I don't drive so would be looking at areas with good public transport links to the hospital. I live in East London at the moment and would imagine that Hastings can't be any worse than here.

    Plenty of flats available.

The hospital is accessible from most areas of the town as there is a circular bus service which goes down to Hastings the town centre, along the sea front and then up through neighbouring St Leonards and back to the hospital. There are a couple of additional routes going to more distant areas as well.
