Can we stop people giving the answers away directly below the link for the competition?

I enjoy a challange, and it's spoilt by the answer being directly underneath, as you cannot help but see it when reading about the comp.

Can we somehow make users put several blank lines in or some sort of hidden font, that has to be highlighted to show the answer?

Digital Spy has a system where the text is grey on grey and if you want to see the spoiler, you highlight the grey box and the text appears.

Wouldn't your suggestion change the whole ethos of the competition forum? I believe there are other competition sites that work like that, couldn't you use them instead?

The comps thread is a sharing forum, there are many other sites such as loquax, prizefinder, ukwins etc where u can have that format if u want, as casey says, thats what makes the comps forum a very friendly place as we often sit for hours solving clues and finding answers. xxxxxxxxxx also why not have this debate in the comps discussion thread, u will probably get more of a informed response than here xxx

I have to agree with the above, the competition board has something very special, we willingly help each other with answers and are more than happy to share and are pleased for others wins.

There have been a few comps lately that has taken a hell of a lot of teamwork to find answers and quite a few MSE's won some great prizes :j

There are other competition websites that just have competition links but there are no conversations or sharing and I personally choose not to use them.

    Hi,

Yes I do use The Prize Finder, but I find some comps on here that aren't listed elsewhere.

I don't know where you get the idea I want to stop the idea of sharing the answer from!!!!!!!!

I just suggested that perhaps the answers could be put a little further down the page, by a few line breaks, so it's not immediately obvious. It spoils the fun of finding the answer.

You have to admit that there's no fun to be had in doing competitions where the answer is given for you (although some sites the question is so blinking obvious, I don't know why they ask the question!)

I'm not in anyway suggesting it be removed or stopped. Please don't think that I am. As I sometimes come here to find answers for puzzles that I cannot solve.

your suggestion would add a lot more hassle to the posters who find the time to post the comps.

Yeah, hitting the return key a few times to space the answer away from the link is *REALLY* going to cause so much hassle isn't it? Crikey life's hard isn't it?

there's no need to be rude to me.
and i believe that it would add time to posting comps.

Me rude? I only put a simple suggestion in and you're all being rude AFAICS????

I'm really only asking if a few line returns between link and answers can be put in, not the flaming earth!

Please remember that people like myself running a small business from home use competitions to get traffic to their sites. Posting the answers and email address means people don't have to visit the site at all.

no one is being rude. you just dont agree with what the regular posters of competitions are saying

Yep, we have differing views. But don't you find the fun of entering a competition is to find the answer and not have it immediately presented?

You see, I'm not asking for it to be removed and the discussions are fun. Just simply asking if the answer could be put a few lines down, so that both parties to the way we prefer to do competitions are catered for?
