    hi sarah,
hope you are feeling a bit better by now? i dread being poorly, especially with the kids, total nightmare. i agree with everyone else has said, just do the bare minimum and as little as possible till u feel a little better.

we all have a funny bug type thing since october, really werid, started with a bad cold then went to our tummies and we were never of the loo, i lost half a stone and i never ever lose weight!!! we have all been picky with food ever since!!!

i have just being ordering food online using tesco vouchers so i don't pay delivery and this has enabled me to have some tin stuff in. i like the advice that at gave about having a emergency box. i gonna make one!

    hth,
    love dorry xxx hugs

I've been trying not to be so well stocked, but the two things I could NOT be without are pasta and tinned tomatoes. It's astonishing what you can chuck into tinned tomatoes, simmer, and serve!

Hope you feel better soon: I was a bit miffed not to be able to have my flu jab until next Saturday because one year I caught flu BEFORE my jab, quite early in the autumn, but so far so good ...

And other thought - how old is DD? A few simple cookery lessons might be in order: my little brother learnt to cook roast chicken, roast potatoes and frozen peas when he was still a cub, which inspired me to think that fish fingers, oven chips and peas should be achievable by a 10 year old of this generation! Yes, you need to supervise getting things in and out of the oven, and you need to have these things in the freezer, but it is worth thinking about!

im getting there thanks, but this whatever it is totally floored me and luckily I was able to get someone else to take the kids to school. Im still not even 70%, but I'm on some big ol' antibiotics, and already thinking about what i will have in place as a plan next time Im ill. My daughter can do a bit but shes only just 8, still i spose a week of toast or sandwiches wouldnt put us at any harm! My kids have loved eating tinned food! The boys anyway. I must admit the readymade pizza wasnt a patch on homemade, whereas a few years ago I would have thought it was quite alright.

glad to hear you're on the mend :o)
hope the worst is over now.

bad luck about the timing when the freezer was bare.

I'm a part time OS-er, I've got ME/CFS so can only OS when able. I often can't cook for the kids, so they live on sandwiches and cereal, or pasta made by teenage daughter.
value rice pud, tetrapack custard, chinese noodles + cashew nuts + soy sauce are handy emergency rations.
looking forward to my microwave curry tonight.
not the same as HM, but it's all that's on offer.

True enough! 8 is a bit young, but probably OK to do simple oven meals: I trusted mine to lift trays out of the oven long before I would let them drain the pasta!

Antibiotics: hope you've got some probiotic yoghourt to help your gut recover, glad you've had some help to get them to school, now REST and get well!

You have my sympathy: I remember days when the only way I could get down to school was leaning on the pushchair handle or I swear I'd have fallen over, glad they can get themselves there and back now!
