It's the ones that insist they're right and don't even bother to check, when they're actually wrong that annoy me (i.e. I had one woman bring me up a shampoo, in a pound shop and insist it was 66p, when the label on the shelf was actually to show how many products should be on that bay)

    I've worked in a CS environment (although not in retail) and know it can be pretty stressful.

    Mistakes are made, as long as someone puts it right (i.e. reimburses me) and is polite, that's all I ask.

    I must admit that sometimes (albeit rarely) I HAVE made a mistake and picked up the wrong thing, when I get back to the shelf and realise this, I'm bloody fuming - at myself! :mad:

    But at least I know I haven't made somebody's life a misery for a few minutes by blaming THEM for MY mistake.
  • Once in Tesco I bought some face cream that had a label under it saying £3. I was buying this when buying an entire weekly shop. When I got to the till it went through as £7 but i didnt notice until i had paid. Checked my receipt and took it to customer services and asked for a refund (i didn't want to buy it at £7) and was told that as it was bewfore 8am they couldn't do refunds (?) and had to get a manager to come and see me. Meanwhile frozen food starting to defrost in trolley! 10 mins later a manager came down (had to be phoned twice) and walked with me to theshelf. It was on the bottom shelf and we both had to bend down to see the label properly. She said that it was for another make of face cream and I was wrong. I said fair enough, but the actual make of face cream it was advertising wasn't on the shelf and there were quite a few of the ones I picked up, and there was no label for the one I picked up. The label was positioned right underneath the one I picked up.

    Not being funny but whilst shopping I don't stop to make sure that every label is correct and she was making me feel awful as if I was causing trouble. I wasn't even asking for it to be given at the lower price, I just wanted a refund! Anyway, I got a begrudging refund, but it is really anoying.
    Money Saved for a house deposit so far = July 2008 £3331.09, August £4396.40, September £5,048.37 (Target = £9,000 by July 2009) 56% there already!:j

    to be fair though, it was your fault for not reading the label under the product.

    labels aren't always clear.

    I bought a set of photo paper in WHS. All the SEL's on the shelf were for between £4.99 and £6.99, yet processed at the till it came in at £14.99.

    I checked on the shelf before going for a refund as I didn't notice till I got to the car. All the items on the shelf mentioned gloss photo paper and the number of sheets. NOTHING ELSE. Yet apparantly this was the wrong brand and was on the shelf incorrectly.

    Hence, just reading the SEL doesn't mean its immediately the customers fault.

    I got a refund in this case.
  • Under the sale of goods act and geneva convention, recently at the Hague the matter was discussed. Mr Mendelson pointed out that sometimes mistakes happen. Anyway the europeans refused to acknowledge that mistakes sometime happen, they state that article 6, paragraph 4 of the 'right to buy' soga articles declartion post world war 2 were 6 million jews died, that "it is an offence to mislead the public when advertising a product".


    Well we need to stop allowing brussells to interfere with this sovereign country, this seat of mars and let them carry on making there silly little laws. We the british were stupid to impliment the maastricht treaty.

    Most people just look at the porduct, look at the price underneath and choose to buy, without crouching on the floor to make sure it actually belongs there. At least I do, shopping would take hours otherwise! I accept mistakes happen and that's why I didnt kick up a fuss demanding it at the price shown, instead just asking for a refund.

    Tesco are terrible for putting the wrong label under items. And is it purely a co-incidence that the price on the label is always less than the price than comes up at the till?

    Well, I'm glad it's not just me then! I did manage to get them to sell me the items at the price I thought they were (apart from the lock), but it is a little embarrassing when a queue is building up behind you :o

    Lesson learnt - check receipts straight away!

    Yes, it's a nonsense - for goodness sake labelling is meant to be clear! They teach you that in Year 3:rolleyes:

    Descriptions don't always match either - yesterday Sainsburys washing tablets had a different description to the SEL, but were the same ones! So how on earth do we know? I guess we should start matching up barcodes then - stores had better start extending their carparking times! :rolleyes:
