You are doing the right thing Amy. I can definitely tell you that facing up to things is a huge relief and telling your parents is the right thing to do. They might be annoyed initially but you are in a good position living at home to sort everything out. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Sorry, just got back and carried on reading this thread.

I think Barclaycard/Mercers use Scotcall as I believe Scotcall are a company who are basically doorstep debt collectors. The meat head that came to see me was from Scotcall and said he was not employed by Mercers - just collects the money for them (well, not from me he didn't!). I would send the letter to both.

As others have said, you are doing the right thing by posting on here. Most of us have been there with head in the sand - I certainly have and my debts spiralled out of control, so it's best for you to start dealing with this before it gets any worse. You will probably find your parents will be supportive - mine were upset and angry initially but now they offer me support. They did want to pay my debts for me but I refused as it wouldn't teach me a lesson which is what I needed but they are supportive in other ways.

Have you got any friends you can confide in? I did and that helped although my friends don't understand about debt, they are there at the end of the phone if I need them or just there if I want a rant.

You're in the right place for support and help.

The problem is my parent's finances aren't the best either and they are really stressed with it all. My Mum confides in me their problems and I find it all very stressful and almost too much to deal with when I am barely coping with my problems. I don't really have anyone else to confide in and I think this is the problem I bottle everything up and then explode like I did last night / this morning.

I just can't believe the level of support that people on here provide it is truly amazing.

I slept a good bit better last night and feel more refreshed this morning. I feel so sick though which I think is down to the worry of my parents coming home. I know it is all going to end in an argument and I hate confrontation of any sort.
