  • Hi all!!

Well ive been away for a while too!!!, not doing the best, returned at work to our new control room...only 4 days in....it blew up up!!!! yes!! all the computers went bang!!! So its been shunting around to emergency premises, spent rubbish, had to get a cab home other day 20 odd pounds ate into my budgets, living off instant stuff too.....travel is costing me loads, we are not returning till its repaired and tomo and all week im at temporary control base..but on the positive note this means i can have a 6.50 a day budget to spend on goodies!!! So im having macdonalds all week and will get a free glass!! lol

Andan and Sophiesmum and co i have missed our chats!! Im working so much to gather the spending money for my uni trips and to pay for the next module of my masters. that starts next month, i need to get myself another 4 shifts of overtime by xmas to pay for it!!

I have a dilema with that a fab new job has come at work in the area im studying its just bad timimng, the pay drop would be so much....form 29k to 23k and no overtime. as much as i want the job i just cant take the pay drop with this debt free plan! Have any of you lot been in the same situation?

You weekends all sound so fab! I went up to london earlier but its busy with notting hill starting tomo. But its back to it guys, went im away in sep for my uni trips i must not go over my budget of spending money!! Ill bring little treats back!!

So i might be back on tomo not sure, on til 8pm all week....

Hi tallie, nice to see you back. Gosh it sounds like you've been busy and stuck in an awful situation being shunted around everywhere. Nice to see you back on here though and perservering with your future plans.

That must be gutting to see a job coming up which would be perfect, but thats not the right time for you due to other reasons. The thing is, you'd probably feel better knowing you have the debt sorted and you can do a better job later as you won't have the debt hanging over you. As they say, when the time is right, the job will come along again.

Infact i was in a similair situation recently. I saw a job working with people using my level 3 counselling skills, now obviously wanting to become a counsellor this would have been fantastic for me. But because i was starting the diploma which would require a lot of concentration and time, i knew it wasn't possible to do both.

Its a bit of a catch 22 situation though, you can't do it for other reasons but doing that job would help you in the future, such as securing a better job within your chosen field, if you see what i mean!!

Oh guys, I was so bad today...

I met up with some friends for a fry up breakfast, don't worry about that it was £6 and worth every mouthful! But we all went shopping afterwards and I got talked into spending on nice things for me. I felt really bad about it, but couldn't say no :mad::mad: This afternoon I took everything back and got it all refunded on my card. But why am I so weak in the first place? bit pathetic really.....

Piquant, i think we've all been there, so don't worry. I have been a moneysaver since i was a child, i would save my birthday money rather than spending it like my brothers and sisters, always research the best deals etc. However i have a friend, have known her for about a year and for some reason when i am with her she ends up making me spend money. I will be a shop that i wouldn't normally buy anything from and end up buying a top for £15, when the whole outfit i'm wearing, including shoes, didn't even cost £15!

Perhaps its that social need in us?? At least you did the right thing and took them back. One thing i tend to do now, is arrange things with my friend that doesn't involve shopping!

  • Andan your so right, its exactly the same, to get the masters i need to stay in the comms officer job on the 29k to afford it. this job is the crime reduction officer post i want but i think 23k is too low. Id be dead happy lots of courses id get to go on but just would be skint. if i had no debt and already done my masters it wouldnt be a problem!!! Like you say it will come along again!!

The control room probs are so stressful, you dont know where your working! Its not good for the debt free motivation, ive gone through much more than i hoped but ill try get some free goodies tomo with my allowance and macdonalds!!

Its harder to keep to my plan when im not on here catching up too! Ill try my very best to. Ill be away from 2nd sep through to the 12th for uni trips. Im going to see how many freebies i can wangle too, its quite fun!! How are the councelling qualifications going? Is it hard to get through the levels?

Im going to get back in the swing of my debt free aim for next summer. If you guys get any newbie ideas keep posting them...

Till i can post again big hugs to you all.....Tallie

Hi, what a busy lot you are!
    Today I have:
checked on line bank account - great , until I ralisd credit card payment (huge) has to come out/ Boo.
Mowed lawn, pruned huge buddleia bush/tree and cleaned up blood (some branches bit back). Loaded up car and then found it was too late for the dump, so I know what I will be doing tomorrow.
Tried daily clicks but nothing to earn any points on Piggy.
Made pie with slow cooker food (best money#saving investment!).
    Read library book
Watched Reading Festival to see if DD would appear in crowd - not yet.
Got out leg of lamb from freezer to defrost (reduced Sainsburys a few weeks ago) for family (minus DD at Reading) meal tomorrow.
Did washing load at 30 degrees and air dried.
DH changed all the rad valves to thermostatic (ebay bargain) for future moneysaving on bills.
    NS day!
Debt September 2020 BIG FAT ZERO!
Now mortgage free, sort of retired, reducing and reusing and putting money away for grandchildren...
