I should have said that using the double callback system with Riiing was a bit unreliable for a couple of weeks in the summer, so I wouldn't count it the only option. But that SIM will be very useful for travelling elsewhere too.

Orange tariffs, etc - and loads of other networks there too

Thanks for all your help - sounds like I'll need to buy a local orange sim to get my access via my laptop.

I use Iberpass to connect my laptop when overseas.

Do you use the wifi or the dial up? The wifi is the one I would really like to use but I can't seem to find out whether there will be an access point where I'll be staying? The website doesn't give any specifics... unless I'm missing something here?

After taking some more time to look at this, it looks as though this is the service I'll be using, either from my hotel room or via my mobile.

    Thanks for the info.

Desjazz - Can't you just find a local Internet Cafe? I haven't had time to check it out for where you are going but most countries in the developing Third World have Internet cafes on every street corner in towns.

You could set up a Yahoo account to divert your mail from the POP server you use now or just use that account as a contact address for your secretary to forward stuff to.

Also you may well find that the cafe will allow you to connect your laptop to their network and 9 times out of 10 it will just work under Windows XP.

Its a good chance to meet the locals too as I reckon they will be more than glad to help you.

With my current setup and the email rules I use, I will really have to use my own machine. So I think I'll set the laptop up to use the options above and then if there is an internet cafe that will let me connect my machine, I will take that (the easier route) option.

    Thank you all.
