So how stupid have I been :embarasse

Ok

I hope someone can reassure me... :o

I did something I don't normally do I bought something from someone with 0 feedback. I was pressured by my son to buy a camera that was ending in a few minutes and it seemed very good value.

Anyway I bid for it and won - it was £50 and £5 postage. I paid for it by Paypal right away yesterday evening and have had no communication at all from the seller!

So my questions is

1) Am I covered by Paypal if anything goes wrong with this transaction ? :(

2) Do you really think a new seller would risk bad feed aback etc for £55 ?

By the way he is also selling 2 other item 1 starting at £550 and the other £40

Many thanks for your thoughts on this matter

Fiona

    1. Yes

    2. Who knows?

I think it's a bit early to start worrying. Not all sellers communicate with their buyers, and a new eBayer might not even think to.

    1. Not necessarily. As a 0 feedback person, they'll only have £150 cover which, I believe, means that PP will only refund what they can recover. If the person has emptied their PP a/c then you get nothing.

I'd be happy to be wrong on that though.

EDIT: Just thought, if you funded by credit card, then you'll have another level of cover. Always fund by CC if possible.

Only if the purchase is over £100 I think

Thanks everyone who has added to this.

I paid by cc and total amount was £55

Ok I'm back to worrying again now, still no contact from seller despite me emailing him/her. :(

  • I had the same problem a few years ago, i waited almost 2 weeks before i heard anything and finally i received it in the post after several emails to ebay and the seller, some sellers need some communication training and some manners

  • Oh also i wouldn't worry yet as it has only been a day give it till after bank holiday as you wont receive it till after then even if the seller was to post it today, try not to worry so much, ebay have guidelines of the amount of time you should wait until reporting this, as do paypal

  • I wouldn't worry yet, everyone at some point is a new ebayer and they have to have someone trust them first in order to start getting feedback etc. After all feedback doesn't mean anything really, any member can suddenly do something wrong even with a great feedback score.

Not all sellers unfortunately contact the buyers, i'm having this at the moment, bought an item, paid right away and haven't heard anything from them. No thanks for paying so quickly or even a message to say the item has been sent.

Give it a few more days...

Although it's easier said then done, I won't get too worried just yet.

As it's a Bank Holiday weekend there's a chance that the seller could have gone away or maybe they can only access ebay from work.
