i sent a document today then got emails back saying they could not open they did not have publisher can i convert it to word without re doing the whole document again, much appriciated xxx

Open up the publisher document... File > Save As...
Where it says "save as type" change from publisher by selecting "word 97-2003 & 6.0/95 RTF" (.doc)
The exact type and wording will depend on what version of publisher you have, but you get the idea.
I suggest you open up what it spits out in word, and check it looks okay and tidy up if necessary.0 -
If they are only wanting to look at the document and do not need to edit it at their end, then converting it to PDF is what I would do.
