i've just been told by orange that i can't use two sim's by different providers in one phone, is this correct ???

I wanted orange for work, separate number to private calls etc..... i have vodafone at the minute for private use.

you'll need to get your phone open to all networks...sim free...unlock your phone...then it'll work...there is a phone that does 2 sims but I don't know whether it is out yet show it on click/bbc the other day...but if you mean use 2 sim's at different times then yes as long as you get your phone open to all networks...

Unless you have 2 phones on you eg 1 for vodaphone and 1 for orange but then you might get confused as to which phone is for what network

there might be someone who has done it and posted it on the internet or there might be a shop in your local city who provide that service

What kind of phone have you got? Some phones are very easy or cheap to unlock (or even free) but the later Nokias like the N series and the like are much harder or expensive to unlock. However it can add value to your phone if you decide to sell it, and might be worth it for the convenience.
