On Epsons the print head isnt on the cartridge its below where the cartridge sits

Have you tried a test print from the printing preferences? If that doesn't work try a hardware based test print you usually have to hold one of the buttons down on the printer while you turn it on or if your printer has a screen you may be able to select a test print off that. If either of them work then it must be something wrong with your computer, not the printer.
