Hello all
I signed up to 18185 2 days ago now (in a bid to try and save a bit more on our phone bills) but I still can't use the service yet as I've not received the email from them.
If I ring 18185 I get a message saying I need to register my number. If I try and register my number I get a message saying that my number has already been registered - bit of a catch 22!!
I've tried sending an email using their 'contact us' form but that doesn't seem to be working either as when I press send I get a message up saying that internet explorer can't find the page (or something like that!).
Am I being too impatient? Does it take longer to set up than I thought? (I'm sure I read somewhere that it's done in an hour usually but definitely within a day?)
Has anyone else had problems setting this up? Or is it just me
Thanks

Try sending an email to service@18185.co.uk. From memory my email came pretty much staight away.
As an afterthought, have you allowed them as a "safe sender" to ensure that you receive their emails?0 -
Thank you so much for the email addy - I've fired off an email to them and hopefully they will 'activate' me shortly!
I couldn't add them to my address book as there was no email displayed on the contact form but I've added it now that you've given me one!!
Thanks again, much appreciated...

If you have moved your line rental to MAAF its possible they are blocking access to the indirect code,as they reserve the right to restrict your access to other Networks.Only BT proper have to allow you access indirectly.
Try using the 0808 freephone access number and see if that works.

If the original poster is getting the 18185 message telling them to register their number, then access isn't blocked,0 -
Sorry, I should perhaps have been clearer - we are with maaf for our broadband but our telephone and line rental are with sky (line is 'rented' from BT though as the exchange is not unbundled yet)...see, clear as mud...:DGrocery Budget from 24th August to 31st August - £100/Declared at £99.27 :j

I did not understand the above but if you are paying SKY for line rental SKY are blocking you.

If your paying your line rental to SKY your line rental is with SKY not BT
Only BT proper have to allow you to use indirect access. Other suppliers can block it and do.You can still use the 18185 Freephone Access Number though.0 -
Thanks for the advice - much appreciated. I think I get it now...:D or don't get it actually (18185 that is!!)...
So, in order to be able to use 18185 I would need to go back to BT or use some of the other numbers that you can dial to override the calls - is that right?Grocery Budget from 24th August to 31st August - £100/Declared at £99.27 :j
