preparing for bankruptcy

Hi all
Just spoken to CCCS bankruptcy support team and the guy was so helpful and nice :T
He's given me the address and phone number of my ''local'' court house (its in the next county lol) and told me what to expect on the day.
I have been receiving regular calls from capquest about 1 of my debts (along with a bright red letter- i thought all that about getting 'red letters' was just a figure of speech!!) and receiving more than regular letters from hsbc about my other debts. The man from CCCS suggested i make token payments of £1 towards each of my debts (so they stop hassling me, i assume). Has anyone got any views on making the token payments? With the capquest 1, it would have to be by postal order because i don't have a debit or credit card to pay with over the phone like they keep asking me to (i've got a cash card account). The other 2 are still being handled by hsbc though so could i just walk in there and make a payment? (they are an overdraft and a personal loan)
Any advice appreciated

Postal Orders cost lots! For £1, its not worth it.
Personally I just stopped paying them all, changed my phone number and put up with the letters (checking that none were actually from courts etc). I needed the money to save my fees.
I did go through the period before that of paying £1 to everyone, and to be frank, it made no difference whatsoever. It wasn't what they wanted, so they pushed for more.0 -

Yep. Especially when it is 'low life' like CrapQuest.
Token payments can sometimes help when the debt is with the original creditor, but even then not very often.
If you are going BR then personally I wouldn't waste a penny on any of them.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thank you both for your input- if its not going to make any difference then its not worth the effort (and i could spend that £3 taking DS swimming)
capquest did suggest that i forward any letters they send on to the CCCS and let them deal with it but CCCS haven't offered this as a service and tbh they're not going to be able to say anything i haven't said myself.
I haven't mentioned that i'm going bankrupt to either hsbc or capquest, is that wise or should i tell them?0 -
In my experience it didn't make one bit of difference when I told them I was going BR until I actually had my BR number after going to court. I know its hard but try to ignore the calls, easier said than done I know, I was a complete wreck with them, everyday asking me the same questions. I was sending £1 cheques and they would ring me making me feel like an idiot for doing that so you concentrate on getting to that BR date asap if you are sure that is what you are going to eventually do. Good luck.0

In my experience I was told if I didnt pay anything they'd take me to court for a CCJ.
I'd already got 1 CCJ and gone through the hassle of that - so sent all my creditors a £1 cheque each month - that kept them off my back as it took me nearly a year to go bankrupt, if you're planning to go bankrupt relatively soon they I think you'd get away not doing the token payments.Bankrupt : 9 May 2008

Hi, I stopped paying any debts once i had decided that BR was for me, I also had to save for fees. If you can just keep all letters etc together as OR may want to see them.
I am still getting letters and I ring them and give them my BR no and thats about it. Those letters can really get you down, try not to worry too much help and advice is always on hand here :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Made Bankrupt 30/7/2008 @ 14.22pm:rotfl:

Capquest have been sending me these letters about my credit card, but on friday i got a letter from HSBC saying a group called metropolitan are taking over recovery of this debt. Today i've received a letter from metropolitan saying they're recovering my outstanding loan balance and ive only got 7 days to pay the full amount. This letter however is dated 11th sept which means my 7 days is already up (not that i would be paying it any way). Could HSBC's !!!!-up of info go in my favour if this gets taken further before i go BR?
I'll be calling the court today but i won't be able to actually go BR for at least 6 weeks because i had to spend a little bit of my BR fees in an emergency (4 bald bloody tyres) and it'll take me 6 weeks to replace what i took out (in 2 installments).
Anyone know what i should say when i phone them- is it just a case of saying i need a date to go BR??0 -
Hi MH,
Keep the letter and envelope (if it has a postmark on it), just incase you need it. It may be useful if you need to play for time.
Even if they do start court proceedings you should still have time to go BR before it gets to court. Keep on the look out for forms from the court, once you get them it's usually then 28 days before the case is heard, and this can be delayed by asking for the case to be moved to your local court, by which time you'll be BR.
Juat ring the court and tell them you would like an appointment of BR.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Got my court date- have got to be in court at 9.30 on 23/10. I'm getting a bit nervous expecially since i'm not doing to well with filling in the forms!!0
