Do you still have to enrol going into second year? I'm going to be on holiday between 16th and 23rd Sept so if I need to enrol would that delay payment of my student loan?

Depends on the Uni I think. They have set up online registration for returning students at my uni this year. We have to register online before we return to uni and then once we are back we register our attendance using our swipe cards and then they release the loan.

I've just called my Uni and I can register online from 1st September, which is cool and student loans have confirmed if I do this then the loan will still be released. I was worried with being on holiday during the enrolment period that there wouldn't be a way for me to do it once I get back

Thats what we have to do. We enroll online and scan a photo in. They then make our student cards ready for us on the 17th. As soon as we pick it up, we properly enroll :)

My Uni gave us our student cards in the first year which are valid until 2010...I thought that was strange!

Mine was due today but it's always a bit late as the Uni takes time telling the loan company people are attending!

Only strange if it's after you graduate ;)

Our place gives us cards that last from year 1 til the end of year 5.
