My son is in hospital after test riding a motorbike. I feel that the owner is responsible too. He should not have allowed his bike to be ridden without insurance. Now my son will be prosecuted by the police, is having an operation on his hand today, and the owner is demanding £3200.
He let my son test-ride the bike for £500 cash, as that was all he could withdraw that day. He led my son to a road to test the bike on and was encouraging him to go faster by flashing his lights, then he crashed.
Then he visited him in hospital and asked for his van keys to move his van. This was not true as he wanted to hold the van as security.
We are in an awful situation now, and I would not reccomend test-riding a bike without insurance.

why is it always someone elses fault?

It was his bike and he knew my son was not insured. I'm not saying he it was the owners fault, but he did take a risk with his bike.
It was an accident,my son is still in hospital, not much sympathy here!

He rode it knowingly without insurance, he crashed it, sorry I don't have a deal of sympathy for him.

Insurance doesn't stop someone from crashing. Give ther seller the remaining amount of the asking price and then sell whats left of the bike on

Would you let someone test ride your bike, if you knew they had no insurance for £500?

Nope, nor would I be stupid enough to ride a bike without insurance.

My bf bought his bike off eBay classifieds. Could also try autotrader, etc?

I sold both my previous bikes on Ebay.
Visordown and The Rev Counter are also good and no reason why you can't link to ebay auctions.
I had auctions and buy it now both times; first time someone bid above the buy it now and 2nd time the buy it now was used.

IMHO, more and more people are using Ebay to sell vehicles.

Be aware of mad scotsmen who say they will come down on the bus and ride your 250 Trail bike (with mud tyres on and a top speed of 60) 200 miles home !

    Cheers, Nick.
