AFAIK BT do not cut off for a first payment issue, they hit you with a late payment feeIf you don't pay a bill on time you will get a late payment charge of £7.50. You can avoid late payment charges by setting up an automatic payment like Whole Bill Direct Debit or Monthly Payment Plan.

its unlikely that BT would cut you off just like that, sorry but its all a bit suss
BT only cut off lines in extreme situations. Usually when its lack of payment it means that a bill hasnt been paid for around 6 months, maybe longer. But you're right, BT don't cut you off for the sake of it.0 -
as i said before i WAS late paying my bill and in contact with them about it.i was just asking whether they should inform you about restricting the calls before they did it.0

If you bought, say, a TV, in Curry's, paid by cheque but the cheque bounced, would you expect Curry's to provide you with another TV if you offered to pay by cheque again?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Well what else do you think they would do? If you don't pay for the service they're giving you what else would that take away from you?
The reminders would have clearly stated that if you didnt pay your bill then the service would be cut off.
Ignorance isn't the answer here.0 -
i wasnt asking for advice about paying my bills.im not stupid and yes i do know they can cut me off etc.the question i was asking was SHOULD THEY INFORM YOU THAT THEY ARE RESTRICING YOUR CALLS.i am not ignorant which is why i have been in contact with them constantly to let them know about problems paying etc.i ask a simple question and get grief from everyone about not paying my bill, what a helpful lot you are0

You're asking should they inform you that they are restricting your calls. Yes they do it on the letters asking for payment in the form of 'If you do not pay your bill then we may suspend the service'. The only reason why you're 'outraged' now was because you didn't read the final demand letters that they sent stressing of the suspension of service.
When it gets to that stage courtesy is thrown out of the window. If you cannot give them the courtesy to pay them on time and the amount they request then i don't see why they should offer courtesy to tell you when they're stopping your service.
You asked a simple question that's an easy one to answer. However the 'grief' that people are giving you is only from you asking a stupid question.0 -

Saving you £7452.50 over a period of 55 years, based on you buying a license from the age of 20 until your 75 at a cost of £135.50.0

They do say on the original invoice the date 'To be receive payment by' and the fact they don't restrict your line on that date is just a common courtsey. If saved £2710 and only spent the interest (Based on a return of 5%), you would have enough money to pay your TV Licence every year.
