I'm at the end of my tether!
This is just a rambling whinging post, so feel free to ignore it, but sometimes you just gotta let everything out!
We living in a rented house the otherside of the country from where we usually live due to OH work. Up till now its been fine, enjoying exploring a new place, meeting new people, even got a new job.
But, everything to do with the house is falling apart! When we moved in we had to TV, it was broken by the last tenants, and I nagged the rental agency to fix it. Been 5 months now, and still no TV! Just glad we brought our own with us! There are also lots of little jobs that took them 4 months to fix, some still need doing; to name a few - broken curtain rails, loose and dangerous bricks in garden, towel rails falling of, dripping tap (we're on a water meter  ) net curtains held up with drawing pins, no maunal for washer/dryer machine - still can't get it to work as a tumble drier! etc
On Saturday, I accidentaly opened the landlords post - his Name is Mr Abbie, and my first name is abbie, easily done! Anyway it was a final reminder for British gas, saying they were sending baliffs round HERE some day this week! OH's company was supposed to sort out all the bills, but British Gas told them we were with another supplier, so they didn't bother to tell us, or to find out who to pay for the gas! Got in touch with Rental agency who got in touch with British gas, and there still trying to sort it out, and I'm a young female home alone all day, and I don't much like the idea of baliffs coming round, who probably won't believe my story!
And then today the washing machine has stopped spinning properly, so clothes are soaking wet.
AND THEN... the boiler has packed up - no piolet or anything! So no central heating or hot water, so definatley cannot dry soaking wet clothes! Today was my day to catch up on washing after weekend back home, so only about 1 days worth of clean clothes left, if that!
Argh, rant over _pale_

I would be tempted to go an d get a free half hour with a solicitor and get them to send a letter to the letting agents about all this.
Also I would inform Hubby's company (I got the impression that they had arranged this rental, so ignore this bit if I have got the wrong end of the stick) and DEMAND to be moved or have it sorted.
If Bailiffs come round, you are OK, as you are not the person they are after, but UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES LET THEM IN.
Good luck - and raise hell!"It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'."

Oh god abbie, thats awful!! Get in touch with the landlord person or the agency, that just isnt acceptable!! Your paying to live there, it should be liveable!! And by the sounds of it, it isnt acceptable for people to be there!!!!! You have to have hot water, its just a standard of living. Refuse to pay your rent until it is sorted.
On the note of the rent...get that sorted asap and chase them until it is!:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my knickers:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:0 -
Oh yeah, as Luis has said.. DO NOT LET THEM IN !!!!!!!! You dont have to let them in, dont even open the door a tiny bit to talk to them. Talk through the letter box.:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my knickers:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:0

Thanks for everyones kind replies. I'm still waiting for the agency to call me back re: washing machine, water and gas.
I don't really want to complain to OHs company, as they've been really good about everything else, and I don't want to be seen as the wife who kicks up as fuss and runins her OHs job security. They probably wouldn't be that petty, but they have made alot of redundancies lately.
OH is due back for lunch soon, he doesn't know about the water, gas or washing machine. See what he says!
Thanks for all the advice, will make sure I won't be opening the door to anyone!0 -
I understand what you mean, but when your hubbie gets back, ask him if he can maybe try sorting stuff out with his company. You have got to make sure things are being paid, its not fair for that to come back and bite you in the bum when its not your fault!:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my knickers:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:0

Oh, and make sure windows are closed, i think bailiffs can actually legally climb through an open window!!:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my knickers:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:0

Only after they have been let in once. Like vampires, once they have been invited in, they can then secure access through any 'reasonable' means, eg open window.
SO DON'T EVER LET THEM IN. NOT EVEN 'TO TALK THINGS OVER'.

If things were that bad for me I wouldn't bother getting out of bed.
