Are you moving your BT line rental to Sky as well as your calls, broadband ,etc ?
If you are a £70 cancellation fee will apply as has been pointed out.BT.s T&C state:

"If you cancel your order after we provide the service you will incur an early termination charge. This charge will be based on the outstanding minimum period of your 12 or 18 month term."

If your leaving your line rental with BT the cancellation charge will of course not apply.I would however be surprised in those circumstances that Sky will pay your BT connection fee.

Sky can connect a line direct cheaper then BT,s £124.99 anyway.;)

    Hi,

We have just been reconnected to BT and Sky will be refunding the £125 connection fee. As I understand it we will pay line rental only to BT and be billed for calls from Sky.

Have you got it in writing chapter and verse. :D
  • I managed to pursuade BT to do this installation at £29.99 instead of £125 (offer usually for cable customers coming back to bt) on the 4th attempt after getting put through to the options team. I had to sign an 18 month contract to have line rental and calls with BT. I was told that I could get broadband at the address where I was having the line as the engineer would need to install brand new lines from the exchange to my property hance the original £125 cost and it was not as simple as flicking a switch at the exchange.

Had the line reconnected - no new line from the exchange. Called BT to arrange for broadband but they told me they could not provide a service on the line as the speed would have been to low and un-reliable. This would have been the same with sky broadband. I asked to cancel and they informed me that I would need to pay for the installation and the remaining 18mnths line rental - although I was only connected for 2 days. In the end (after 5 more phone calls) I managed to get them to cancel for free as I believed I had been miss-sold the product and it was not fit for the purpose I required - which had been explained to the call centre bloke when I arranged the installation.

If you have the option, use VirginMedia for your calls and broadband. I got the installation for free. Check the prices against sky before you make any arrangements and factor in the installation costs you've been quoted.
