npower warns customers against E.ON price cap deal
Hi,
Took a call today from npower as I'm in the process of switching to E.ON under their price cap 17 product (prior to the price hikes).
However npower said that they had lost a lot of customers to E.ON and today they (CS) were briefed that the E.ON product is not all that it seems and have been told to contact customers who are switching (in an effort to reverse the trend no doubt).
Apparently the so called E.ON price cap isn't actually that, it's a "price protection" and I was told to check the small print, which apparently states if prices rise above a certian level then E.ON can still raise your tariff cost, even though you thought you where on a capped deal!
I have yet to check the T&Cs myself but thought it worth making people aware of this and whether this is just some clever retention ploy by npower??

N Power are telling Porkies. Whats new !!!
Price Protection 17 .Its a capped tariff if electricity and gas prices go up, your prices won't go beyond your capped rate. If standard prices go down, your prices could too, and there are no tie-ins or cancellation fees on this one.0 -

Definately a ploy from Npower.0

The Eon is a standard capped product. If prices go down the Eon rate will too and can go up but not above the rate when you joined the price protection plan.0

This was because they weren't allowed to sell the PP17 to new customers at that time, all they had to sell at that time was the BG compariosn product.0 -
I took a call from an Npower salesman, he said that Elvis is alive, Gary Glitter is innocent, and that he was Lord Lucan and didnt work on commission. Should I believe him?Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0

I had a similar call, nPower telling me that E.On were charging a 27% premium on top of their quoted prices for their fixed price tariff. (I started a thread a few days ago about it)
E.On denied all knowledge saying "The price you pay is the price stated on your welcome letter"0 -

I've just had the same call from Npower. The guy told me that the E.On tariff I am moving to wasn't a capped rate but just that they promise I will pay 13% less than their standard rate. He asked why I was moving to a more expensive rate and I said that Npower would be putting their prices up soon too. The guy started to say "probably" but stopped himself and said it could be months before they do that and I would be paying a higher rate all that time!
I have checked my paperwork from E.On and it clearly says that the prices will not go above the prices in my letter so yes, Npower seem to be making things up.0
