Web Based texting service

I'm after a reliable Web based texting service, that sends messages as if it has come from your own mobile phone number. I don't mind paying, but am looking for something more cost effective than the standard 8p-10p cost of the mobile operators.

Could u not use one of the free services and add ur reply number at the end of the message? Works for me.

http://www.smsbug.com you need to register with the service via a small java application downloaded to a mobile phone. but once you have registered, you can send SMS via the web on a normal PC. national+international texts work out at around 2p per text, and its a very reliable service!

Is there an added cost in using the GPRS/EDGE/3G connection to send the message?

The GPRS will cost you if you dont have a free allowance but this cost will be very small only like a few kb worth... it depends on your network
