PAC code cancels current contract?

Hi,

Just at the time i'm going to cancel my contract with O2 CPW, but wanna keep my number, so I will ask for a PAC code. If i say move over to virgin PAYG and take my number over, when the number transfer is complete is my contract with O2 CPW cancelled, with my needed to specifically cancel it?
This will effectively allow my to cancel my contract within 30 days, the amount of notice you need to give them.

Correct. When your number ports out to virgin it cancels your cpw contract.

although if you are not in the final 30 days you will have to pay off the remainder of the contact before they give you the pac code

but normally you pay your line rental a month in advance anyway...
