I was told by Dialaphone that BT Mobile used Equifax, and was even given their number to contact them. I already have a contract through Dialaphone that I purchased for my son as a present, and they said they were quite happy to supply on any other network. It was BT mobile that refused it. The equifax file sais I was a good candidate for credit and scored highly in the green section in all aspects except for credit searches which was yellow indicating a warning, so it has to be that. it also said that lenders do not like more that 2 or 3 searches in 6 months. I will try the Exeperian post file, out of curiosity, and report what happens. the troble is I am a bit wary to try any other phone suppliers, as that will be another search on my record.

i've just recieved my experian report after being refused for an bbey joint account. I already have a graduate account with them. hopefuly this will be sorted out as the problem seems to be with my graduate account as i didn't pay any money in for 5 months but have paid wages in since Jan. (in another thread)

anyway my point is i have noticed a catalogue that is £10 in credit and a store card £3 credit. i don't use either of these anymore, is there any way i can get this money back? and would it be worth contacting other settled store cards and ensuring they are cancelled rather than just not used accounts?

    thanks

I had a applied for an MBNA card and was declined due to "low credit score". I telephoned them and said would the CIFAS flags and unneccesary searches on my Equifax file affect it. They said they couldn't tell me my credit score but it wasn't far off. So they advised me to wait until the Equifax file has been sorted before asking for a review. Here's hoping!
  • 2 things....

Firstly I am in full employment and was receiving quite a low wage till 6 months ago which meant that it was difficult to manage my student debt and other debt that I had collected along the way. I am trying very hard to pay off all existing loans (just payed one off today) and would like to transfer the balance of 2 credit cards on to a card with a fixed low apr for the life time of the balance but am worried that I will be declined due to poor credit rating and obviously the application being noted on my credit scoring or beign acceopted but not for the amount I need....is it actually worth applying to find out? or is there something I can do instead?

    Secondly...

  • This is an excellent site! One question -

Do utility bill payments affect your credit score?

    Marc
Yes, I would also like to know the answer to this question.

My recent Equifax report had a credit account with TalkTak (but no other utilities).

So I think the answer is - yes it can do.

I was recently refused a credit card on the grounds that I have limited credit information. I think this is becase I recently married and changed my name. They did not take into account credit info in my maiden name (event hough it was on the application form).
How do I get my credit records merged?
  • Yes, I would also like to know the answer to this question.

I'm not positive but I don't think late payments for utility bills affect your credit file only if you completely don't pay them and get a CCJ. Could be wrong though.
  • I am trying to help my son reduce the interest he is paying on very large credit card debts. He has a poor credit rating and thinks he won't be accepted for a 0% credit card. Can I take out a 0% card but transfer his balances??
  • Does anyone know if you can view electoral roll on internet free of charge?

Think I may have a problem with credit rating because of whats on the electoral roll.
