Speeding fine (what the law says?)

It's probably one of those 30 limits that's been extended by half a mile into open countryside, so most people speed up when the road looks clear and with no major hazards.

i thought this as well, that you had the fine to pay anyway, but could either have the points put on your license, or you attend those classes

Who can go on the course?
The National Speed Awareness Scheme is offered to a number of offending motorists after they have been caught speeding. Usually the drivers eligible will be those that have exceeded the legal limit but not by a huge amount. Each individual police force will decide what their margins are. If you are invited to attend such a course you will be given a specific date, time and location to attend and you will need to accept the offer, or decline and take the fine and the points on your license instead.

Ok, it can be me then.

I went into Sainsburys today and tried to steal 20 packets of razor blades. They caught me using a hidden camera. If I go to www.shavipoo.com will they tell me how to get away with breaking the law?:D

Speeding is against the law. OP was speeding by his own admission. Lesson learned we hope.

That's what happens when you post that you committed an offence, held your hands up and took the penalty handed out to you.

It's the !!!!!! who speed then whine about how bad it is that they got caught and blaming everyone except themselves that get the vitriol they so richly deserve.

you are quite right im what you are saying, i have no problems with that, you have mistaken the question though, the question i was asking was about the law and what the law says on how speed traps are conducted. I was breaking the law, no doubt about it, it was my fault and i hold up my hands and payed the fine. But a wanted to know if i was caught out correctly that is all.

I got caught in the Thames Valley. Speed awareness courses were offered for those driving 35-39mph in a 30mph zone.

Next time just keep going and run her over. Say you didn't see her because you were busy sending a Text Message.

I'd just like to say that silky is right. Sometimes the tickets that are issued or the circumstances under which they are issued do not comply with the law. The system recognises this and silky is totally entitled to ensure that just as she/he is required to comply with the law, the ticket and the circumstances under which it was issued also comply with the law. This is his/her right and the law recognises this by rendering the penalty invalid if she has a case.

All the best silky, do check out pepipoo forums, they have helped many people in the past and some of them have legal experience. At 38mph you are entilted to a speed awareness course INSTEAD of the fixed penalty and 3 points- but check if your police constabulary offer this as it's not nationwide.
