Archos 605 wifi 40GB & DVR Station (Mspriced??)

Ditto with the above link... am I able to copy my recordings from sky on the archos if so any additional leads required?

you can't "copy" like drag and drop- you have to play them and record them n real time on the Archos. A bit of a pain, but once it's done - it's fine. Obviously you have to make sure you pay all the copyright money if required!!

OK hope this helps as I set it all up yesterday

If you have the DVR station it connects in between the Sky box and the TV as a pass through unit.

Once registered at Archos you can put TV listings on the Archos unit and it will record like Sky on its own (It can even change the sky channel in your absence!! if the infrareds on each box can see each other)

Personally I don't use it that way.

I have Sky+ and use the COPY function... then I just use the Archos as a record unit overnight and dump all the programmes i want to watch while working away and in hotel rooms all week...
Looking forward to catching up on 3 episodes of the Wire next week as the wife doesn't like it !!

Had a quick look this morning and the quality is amazing (Compared to my old Mustek PVR) - back through the TV it's just like watching from the Sky box

I love the fact that it records TV but what I like more is the fact that I can connect to any TV, so when I go abroad or my cousins, or my gran, we can all sit and watch a movie together on ANY tv using the AV connections. Comes with a SCART for the older tv models.

Indeed it does... According to it's manual it refers to Mac's on P57 (Can download the manual here... and how to disconnect from a mac (Also Linux systems as well)

It offers drag and drop functionality - refers a lot to Windows Media Player 11 for maintaining playlists but you can just drag and drop and acts like any attached Hard drive in the main

I bought one of these, arrived this morning, just getting to grips with it.

as an extra bonus it appears to have an 80GB HD rather than the 40GB as ordered and boxed up as. :j

80gb... lucky B*****d !! LOL mine was just a 40GB

I've had mine going over a week now now and it's superb. Even records my Sky+ programmes in Stereo.

There are some quirks with the menu system but Archos are famed for this...

I ordered one of these yesterday morning after reading this thread - but am a little disapointed with the service

I paid extra for express carriage but appartantly this is measured from when the parcel leaves the building and not from point of order! so nearlly two days latter my goods havent even left the building yet and I will have to wait a further 2 days for delivery if it goes out tonight?

for £15 its poor for a in store item to take 4 days from point of order to be advertised as express carriage.

this will be the first and last item I buy from here
