in It's gone, but was it any good?
Hi there

I have been after an Archos media player for a while and stumbled across this mis-priced package..

Archos 605 wifi 40GB - £169.95
Archos Gen 5 DVR Station - £77 (This is what you need to record TV programmes etc)

Those prices are pretty much standard

However Pixmania are doing the combined package for £170.55 !! with free delivery too

    Im an Archos guy, this thing is absolutely incredible. Most people dont realise how great it is.

    Put divx and xvid on the fly. No converting.
    Use cable (bought on ebay for like £3) to connect to ANY television to watch.
    Wifi built in.
    2 1/2 hour battery life.

    As for this deal IT IS great.

    Looks like they are combining the Gen 5 DVR Station to clear the old stock of 40GB units. Don't think its a misprice.

    I have the 160gb one - which cable did you buy?

    And what program do you use to put your videos onto it?

    I seem to remember from reading about them before you need to buy extra plug-ins to browse the internet and use various dvd/video formats that can add up, worth looking in to before you buy. Or get an ipod touch.

    Sorry my error was £177.65 all in with delivery...

    As one poster has said they may be doing the deal to clear 40GB units but hey it's still a cracking price.

    As to getting the ipod touch - i like to dump programs from my sky plus when working away to watch - the ipod cannot do this i believe.

    I had an old first gen media player that had sound/pic sync problems - am chuffed to bits at this price...

    newer archos have been announced this week,launch in oct 2008
    with wifi and hsdpa support
