in Credit cards
Have you recently got one of the Virgin 0% for 15 month credit cards but have a balance on MBNA which they won't let you transfer as its the same company?
Or have a balance transfer offer running out on MBNA and want to put it on the virgin 0% for 15 months?
Heres the loophole...
Virgin allow you to do a "cash to your current account transfer" (do not withdraw from hole in the wall rate doesn't apply) which offers you the same 0% for 15 months with the same 2.98% fee.
Once cash lands in your current account pay off the MBNA balance with that cash.
Loophole?! :money::beer::T

Not wholly related but my recent experience is that MBNA dont let you have more than 1 card in their family.
I have a v good credit rating and wanted a football card for no other reason than it's got my team's logo on it. Have already got a Virgin card, they said no dice, even called me to say sorry and could they flog me other stuff while I was on, but no extra card, even when I offered to split the limits so their overall risk would stay the same.0 -
Don't think thats the case.
Had a virgin card for 18 months and just got approved for the MBNA platinum.
I had a £7300 limit with Virgin so they reduced my limit to £3300 and gave me a £4000 limit on the Platinum card, which is fine by me as I am never near the limit on it anyway.0 -

This is unlucky and I am surprised.
Generally speaking MBNA do allow you to have more than one card as long as they are not the same branding (i.e. two Sony cards for instance), and they allow you to move the limits between the 2 cards.
I have heard of people with up to 5 MBNA cards.
Looks like you were unlucky :mad:0 -

I have a £8900 mbna limit, and virgin gave me a £3100 limit. Its enough to covers my BT so its worked out well.
I can see why MBNA wouldn't issue another MBNA special edition card, but with the Virgin card being a seperate "brand" as such they should let you have both but may cap the limit on the second.0 -
I have 3 MBNA cards
Arsenal, Sony and Platinum. The Sony one was RBS I think but got moved to MBNA

Maybe i got them on a bad day!
Dumping the virgin in a month as I refuse to pay 5% BT fees.
So will get my footy card then.0
