Help! Ideas to make my weekend away more special and romantic....

Options
on a budget of course!!!:rotfl:

My son has gone on hols with his dad for a week.
My son is autistic and much as we love him to bits it is exhausting work at times caring for him and my partner and myself have treated ourselves to a weekend away this weekend at a gorgeous boutique hotel near us ( got special deal from Laterooms:T )

this is the first time we have been away on our own since we met nearly 2 years ago and I want to make it special but not got loads of money.

I am looking for any ideas you may have to make it even more special and romantic.

many thanks
claire

do you have an oil burner - the ones for burning incense oils on?

If not they are ususally found in pound shops...

so you can either use for scented oils... or... put a small glass dish on the top and melt some chocolate in it, and take some marshmellows with you...

    hey presto... portable chocolate fondue...

Some tea lights, bottle of wine, choclate fondue...

I'll leave the rest to you ;-)

I would take plenty of candles and some nice massage oil.
Also take your own bottle of bubbly and just ask for an ice bucket. serve it with some strawberries.
Get yourself a pretty nighty you can get some lovely stuff in primark for not much money.
Take plenty of long walks (weather permitting) there is nothing as romantic as holding hands again.
Maybe make a c.d of any special songs you have together and take it with a little c.d player.
Most of all just relax and enjoy it, try and avoid talking about day to day things especially the kids (they do tend to kill the romance!!)
    Have a lovely time.

I was going to say an oil burner or a scented candle. Jasmine is one of my favourite scents, or rose. Candlelight also looks really nice. Some relaxing music in the background that you both like would work too. :)

I hope you enjoy your break. :) Make the most of it. :)

Take some strawberries and a bottle of sparkling wine.......along with the chocolate fondue, oil burners and tea lights mentioned before it should be great!

    Enjoy yourselves!

    Hi Claire,

I've moved your thread across to the Marriages and Relationships board so that it can be merged with your thread there as we are asked not to post duplicate threads because it can cause confusion.

I hope you have a great weekend. :)

Hi there - I'm in the same situation - hubby and I are staying at a gorgeous hotel in leeds this w/end. We plan to get there before checkin, explore the city, have a spot of lunch - then spend the afternoon enjoying our lovely suite before going out to dinner. If on a budget there are some good two for ones available on this site at the minute - like zizzis and strada. Alternatively, somewhere like bella italia is good value. You have to eat after all!
I'll be taking my lush massage bar with me and treating hubby before sharing a bubble bath with him. Had i not been pregnant i'd definately be smuggling a bottle of wine (plus corkscrew).
If its 'that' kind of romance you want pack candles, your best undies (or treat yourself - peacocks, primark etc are v cheap!) and also you can get a game called monogony which is fun!! ;)
Hope you enjoy youself as much as we will!

I'm sure Poundland has a "harhum" section, well I al always embarrassed walking past something! You could get a few bits if it's not something you always do ;)

Like others have said, smuggle in the alcohol, choccies and treat the both of you to a new underwear set for yourself!

If I never got the opportunity much, I would spend the break in the room ;) OK, maybe a romantic walk.............wearing no underwear ;)

Seriousley, the fact it will just be the two of you means it will be special enough.

    Enjoy!

But you only just spent some money on a new set and now you won't wear it....thats not very MSE.....;)
  • Think i will take some nice wine with me.

already have some nice undies sorted;) !

we have a meal booked in the restaurant Sat night....its pretty expensive but we never get the chance and I am seeing it as a way of us celebrating setting date for our wedding.

I am ashamed to admit I already have one of those monogamy games but it has never been used:o ....maybe I will take it and make the most of the opportunity.

many thanks for suggestions so far!!
